buy a suitable connecting cable.

No, this is an excellent radio however the lack of pc support is a drawback
of its age I'm afraid.--

And hand held scanners dont come with pc control? maybe this is a drawback

prob is take a handheld anywhere near a PC and forget signals listen to
digital hash instead!! much more interesting!!

although not needed it is nice to be able to upload and download freqs via
pc,so not so much pc control but to be able to have software support.


most of the radios i have i do not use software very much if at all,but the
best software packages are usually with Alinco and Yaesu,both the vr500 and
dj-x200 have excellant,easy and reliable software.

I'm not sure which way you mean, looking at the replies all seam to go
for frequency uploading and freq control, BUT maybe you mean connecting
up to computer for decoding purposes?

If you want PC control, you want a UBC780XLT or something like that, not a
handheld.
A handheld is for walking about i.e. portable i.e. one leg moves in front of
the other i.e.....
