Over the past couple of weeks I have seen 4 sold on ebay, they went for
between £85 and £140. I am interested if anybody knows how much these
scanners cost when they were new(they ceased production over 10 years ago),
what did they cost in the late 1980's ?

For a nice clean one with box and manuals etc. you might have to pay £100.
You'll probably have to pay at least £50 for a battered one ( like mine ) if
it works.

They are like a small car, keep there value as they have a good reputation,
and if your needs are not great for about 100 quid you cannot get a better
basic scanner that is able to take strong signals and not be overloaded.

Hi

The prices were £299 for the 400ch model and £399 for the 1000 channel
one.

But they did used to drop the prices radically when clearing out. I
think the 200 ch went for around £69 to clear.

I'm very surprised that the 2nd hand price is still about the same
£100-£120 (good condition) as it was then.

I can overload mine quite successfully :oP
Still love it all the same, hasn't been switched off in a couple of years
now, literally.

There's one here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1365426639 currently at
£100 with aerial , there was one sold on ebay.COM a few days for 232
dollars http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1363872205

It would seem this scanner has quite a reputation .
