The callsign for BA1439 will be Shuttle Nine Whiskey.

That's interesting. I was under the impression that the number of shuttle
flights varied each day depending on demand with the shuttle number
indicating the destination and the letter incrementing with each departure
to the destination but that info is quite a few years old and I haven't
monitored the Shuttle recently. Please could you post more info or point me
to a site to help me update. I unfortunately haven't got a current BA
timetable (only a 1996 edition). Is there a flight number/ destination
decode list on the net similar to that in the back of the BA Worldwide
Timetable? MTIA for any help,

Best Wishes,

JohnC.

Most BA flight would use "Speedbird" followed by the flight number
(Speedbird 1439 for example) but as mentioned the above flight is
Edinburgh - LHR Shuttle flight so uses a Shuttle callsign (Shuttle 9
Whiskey).

Shuttle 2* = LHR - Man
Shuttle 3* = Man - LHR
Shuttle 4* = LHR - Belfast
Shuttle 5* = Belfast - LHR
Shuttle 6* = LHR - Glasgow
Shuttle 7* = Glasgow - LHR
Shuttle 8* = LHR - Edinburgh
Shuttle 9* = Edinburg - LHR

A good number of European BA flight also use an alphanumerical callsign
whilst British Midland use a similar system for some of their flights
rather than the flight number.

The 1999 edition of "Flight Routings" has just been published and
details most scheduled and charter flights you would hear in the UK.
