I received info for Dish Network. I thought it was great. Plus it comes with
Sirius. I thought Id have both services! But once I researched DirecTV, I
thought, who the hell would go with the other? Everything is free.

Free equipment for 4 rooms
free upgrade to DVR for one of them
free installation
free movie channels for 3 months
discounted rate for 3 months

A coworker also told me they dropped ESPN News a few months ago & he lost a
few more channels within the last few weeks.

Someone with different info please let me know if Dish Network is better
than Ive been led to believe.

Dish wants $99 install
$49 activation
shipping & hadling on the equipment

TIA

i'm not sure where you are checking on Dish promotions but dish current
promotion is for...
4 rooms free
Free DVR upgrade in 2 of the rooms
Free Installation
$49 activation fee (with $49 credit on the first bill)
Free Starz movie package for 3 months
$100 discount ($10 off your bill each month for the next 10 months)

also, Directv will charge you $5 per month for each reciever beyond the
first one... dish now uses dual-tuner boxs so instead of an additional
$15 for a total of 4 receviers, you only pay an extra $5 for the all 4
receivers.
also, someone lied to you, ESPNews is still on dish (channel 142) and
yes, Lifetime and Lifetime movie network were removed a few weeks ago
because of contract disputes but that has been resolved and both are
back on again... as well as Oxygen network being added also.
I install Directv and Dish, but personally subscribe to dish...
Mostly because I prefer the equipment. And if you are into HiDef, Dish
is the only way to go.
just my opinion ;)

DirecTV has blurry pictures. DiSH is a little better. I like Digital
Cable the best.

Thanks for the info.
I only had one source.
There were a couple of coworkers in the conversation.
I must have been mistaken which told me about the ESPN News.

But when I called Dish, they were the ones who gave me all the pricing info
I listed above.

I have dish network and love it. I have a PVR 721 for it that i bought off
of ebay, its a dual tuner receiver that stores 90 hours of stuff similiar to
Tivo but it doesn't charge $13 a month like Tivo does. Go to radio shack
and buy it, and install it yourself to save the install fees. its so easy
to install a monkey could do it.

look for a reputable retailer in your area... the csr's at dish's
1-800 number suck (most of them)

I love my 721 and Dish Network. I was a DirecTV customer but their
(unsuccessful) attempt at trying to sue me for more than my 90$ a month
kind of soured my interest in their service anymore.

With that in mind, I don't know why I didn't subscribe to DN sooner.
For under 90 bucks a month I have the 721 (which I bought for 249$), 2
311s (leased through DHA), Top180 (with locals), and Starz/HBO. Cable
was MUCH more expensive and a worse picture quality. After all, many
Digital cable systems in the U.S. are still sending you the first 100
channels in Analog.
