I have seen a guy selling suitcase size Micro FM broadcasting
stations at three different hamfests in the Southeast. He sets up
out in the flea market area. At the price he's selling these things,
it's going to make it real easy for a lot of people to get on the air
right away with their own Micro FM broadcasting station. He
packs everything one needs right into a suitcase size container.
Looks like you could put a 10 watt station on the air in a matter
of minutes. Higher power models were available. I see a sharp
increase in the next few months of new stations going on the air.

He was operating out of the back of a double axle trailer. The
gear looks mostly import. He said he hits all the hamfests in the
Southeast U.S. I travel a lot and have seen him at three hamfests.
His daughter must travel with him and was helping out. He must
stand behind what he sells, as some guy came up and I listened to
the conversation. The guy exchanged a piece of gear he bought
at another hamfest.

I saw this same guy selling FM equipment, the same one that
Jack saw. He operates out of a U-Haul style trailer with four
wheels. He was over here at the last hamfest.

Could this be it?

I know that the link is for a Canadian company but perhaps we're still
talking about the same product.

Looks like it to me. Only $3890 USD !!! I don't expect the "average"
pirate will be buying one. ;-)

You still have to provide all (?) your input sources. Don't know yet if
it includes a mixer, compressor/limiter, or stereo. I saw the price and
lost most of my interest. ;-)

I have a 20 watt stereo FM setup that I've built into a short rack
(instrument amplifier case), that includes a BEXT LEX-25 FM exciter (1-20
watts adjustable, this is a current offering from Bext, at about $1,600), a
QEI Model 772 stereo generator, and a Behringer Composer Pro MDX-2200. I
would probably let the whole works go for about $1,650 shipped to the US.
(the shipping is murder). This is all real, commercial equipment, licensable
by the FCC.

Look closer. Comes with mixer, mic, 2 CD players, and 2 Cassette
players. Of course nobody serious is going to use cassette decks for
primary audio. You could 86 those and nicely place in a mini-disc
changer.

It's a silly price! You can get a high quality 40 Watt stereo transmitter
from several suppliers for less than $1000, which could include audio
processing!

I didn't need to look any closer. The price scared me off! ;-)

Ive built a couple of these over the last few years. The nicest one was
built into a black bag with wheels on that you can drag along behind you.
Basic setup costs under £500. I use them for RSL's in the uk.
