I have over 4,000 tracks in my playlist, but SAM seems to only 'see' about
300-400 of them, as I hear the same tracks at least once a day. Anyone know
how to correct this issue? I have tried "Clockwork Rotation" and "Weighted
Rotation".

TIA

Once upon a time in a magickal land far far away the being called Brenda
Ann stirred from its deep slumber and pronounced to usenet:

set clockwheel rotation to:
Cat['Tracks'].QueueBottom(smRandom, EnforceRules);
Cat['Tracks'].QueueBottom(smRandom, EnforceRules);
Cat['Tracks'].QueueBottom(smRandom, EnforceRules);
Cat['Jingles (All)'].QueueBottom(smRandom, NoRules);

this will play a random jingle every three tunes.

config/playlist rotation rules/do not play same track within x minutes.
(adjust x according to size of playlist. mine is set to 1000 minutes.

SAM 4 with aac+ stream does work very nicely.

Can you tell me how to find these settings to change them?

Never mind.. I found it. I made the changes you said in the rotation specs..
I like it.. not having the same sweepers at the same times will be nice. I
also changed the clockwork rotation settings so it should not play the same
track for 14,900 minutes (it was set to 3600 before)

Thanks. :)

No problem.
For the professional touch, copy this into notepad and save as TOTH.pal:

PAL.Loop := True;
PAL.WaitForTime('XX:00:00');
Queue.AddFile('C:\radio\TOTH.mp3',ipTop);
ActivePlayer.FadeToNext;
Queue.Clear;

Add it into the PAL script window in SAM and it'll auto-fade whatever is
playing exactly on the top of the hour and play a station ID.

Here's one I made earlier; live stream from a radio tuned to a pirate
station in San Antonio, Ibiza:
mms://80.37.214.76:5560/

btw, did you get SAM 4.2.2 yet?

Steve,

How would this affect scheduled programs (that are added to the queue
automatically just before they run), such as my news program and the Rewind
show?

I don't think it will affect the event scheduler but if it does just remove
the Queue.Clear; line from the script.

That works well... will know more after tomorrow morning's news.

Now for the question of an extremely lazy programmer.. :)

Is there a script that will choose a track that runs to within a few seconds
after the TOTH so that I don't end up with Alice's Restaurant or some such
getting cut off?

(took me a couple tries to figure out that I needed to add my own tag
filename in place of your "C:\radio\TOTH.mp3".. I'm not always the brightest
bulb in the string. :)

Steve,

I want to make a PAL script to run specific programs at specific times (and
fade out whatever else is running). For instance, I run a program called
Rewind, which is a syndicated program, and should be run on time. This
program runs at 10AM and 10PM Eastern time on Saturdays. Can you give me
pointers on how to set this up? I can also use the same format for my
weekday syndicated newscast.

Thanks for your time.
