Hi Group!

Regis Kordic (or is it Kordig?) had the morning show on KDKA in the early sixties.
The "Company" consisted of Carmen Monoxide, the garbageman, Omicron and Neutnicron,
the aliens, some gangster who regularly came in with a machine gun and shot up the
studio, and various other characters. Does anyone have recordings of his show
and/or more information about them? How long did he do this show, and what became
of him?

TIA.

Best to all,
Hubie

Regis Cordic (correct SP) was one of the most creative people in radio. He
went to Los Angeles in 1966 replacing Bob Crane on KNX but his success
there wasn't as marked as in Pittsburgh. He turned to acting and became one
of the most frequent guest players in the Universal Studios shows of the
70s. You'd see him as a judge, or a businessman, in shows like Quincy. If
you remember the Darrin McGavin series The Outsider, Rege was one of the
featured players. In 1981 and 82 he returned to radio briefly doing AM
drive at KRLA in Pasadena.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any recordings of Rege's shows.
Like Don Sherwood, Dan Sorkin, and many other greats of the early sixties
they did their shows live and no one had the presence of mind to record
them. Damn shame, too.

Thanks for the information John. Your response prompts me to ask more questions.
Is the Bob Crane that Regis replaced the same Bob Crane of "Hogan's Heros" who was
murdered in Las Vegas? If so, do you know if that case still open? Also, do you
remember the KDKA evening show "Party Line" with Ed and Wendy King, and what became
of them? Their's was one of the first call-in talk shows, but they never put their
callers on the air; they would talk about the calls they got, ask questions, read
letters, and seemed to me to be much easier listening than the "almost live but all
calls are screened and delayed six seconds in case you say something bad" talk shows
that we have today.

Yes, it was the same Bob Crane. One of the best Radio Personalities ever
before moving on to Hogan's Heroes & the movies. I've heard some of Crane's
work at KNX and he had the same style of crazy, off-the-wall humor that
Cordic was famous for. A&E recently ran a biography of him but
unfortunately I missed it, so whether the case was ever officially closed I
have no idea. I know the police had one major suspect, but apparently never
could pin it on him with certainty.

Also, do you remember the KDKA evening show

Sorry, I don't remember them at all but sounds like their show was fun.
