Does anyone remember this great comedy talk show from the early-1980's? (Would
18yrs ago be oldtime radio?? If not, please forgive this post.) It was a great
forerunner to today's Phil Hendrie show. Anyone out there have tapes of
Galvin's show?

Galvin was (and is) an insightful and ocassionally brilliant comic observer of
stuff. He still has (or did til recently) a show in Cincinnati on WVXU-FM, I
actually appeared on his show in 1982 singing Heard It THrough The Grapevine
for some stupid, long forgotten sketch. Oddly enough, Jerry wasn't on that
night and Mike Schlesinger guest-hosted. Mike is now Sony's US producer for
GODZILLA 2000. Anyway, my fave Jerry "scam" was when he "announced" that Ohio
had been sold to the Japanese to offset US debt or something and then took 2
hrs of calls where people built on the scam or were genuinely outraged by the
news. Jerry was reportedly responsible for Plummet Mall, also, a bogus
marketing campaign that made its way around the country in the mid eighties
designed to show the power of advertising by plugging a nonexistant mall. By
the way,I don't have a single tape. Sorry.
