HOTSHEET FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2009

-- RADIO ONE --

1.THE CURRENT:

Today on The Current…We'll get the latest on the negotiations to
release Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier who was captured by Hamas in
June of 2006. And we'll look at why Israel has a policy of negotiating
with groups that it considers terrorists when so many other countries
refuse.

And ... Since Canada started its nuclear program in the 1970s, we've
accumulated about two million used uranium fuel bundles ... enough to
fill 6 regulation hockey rinks up to the top of the boards. Now, the
Nuclear Waste Management Organization is trying to find a permanent
home for the waste and it's reaching out to communities that might be
interested in taking it off their hands. We'll talk to a councillor in
one community that has expressed interest. And we'll hear from the
Nuclear Waste Management Organization about what's involved.

That's on The Current with host Anna Maria Tremonti, today at 8:30
a.m. (9 NT) on CBC Radio One.

2. Q:

Today on Q…Science journalist Gregory Mone, author of The Truth About
Santa, uses science and technology to overturn the assumption that
Santa can't be real. That's on Q with host Jian Ghomeshi…today at
10:00 a.m. (10:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.

3. THE STORY FROM HERE:

The holidays, of course, are the time to buy the latest...and
greatest...naked charity fund-raising calendar. We've seen tasteful,
but nude calendars of seniors, fire fighters and homemakers. But how
about naked, burly construction contractors? Members of the Nova
Scotia Builder's Association decided to bare it all to raise money for
their favorite charity. Talk about studs! All that and a special CBC
Christmas concert on The Story from Here … today at 1:00 p.m. (1:30
NT) on CBC Radio One.

4. WRITERS AND COMPANY:

Today on Writers and Company Eleanor Wachtel talks to one of the top
critics writing today, James Wood, about his book How Fiction Works.
Love him or hate him, they still call him the best…today at 2:00 p.m.
(2:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.

-- RADIO 2 --
