This morning, The Current looks at child welfare for aboriginal

care…that's compared to 1 in 10 aboriginal youngsters. Yet there are
fewer government dollars going into welfare services for First Nations
children than for other kids in this country. On today's show, guest
host Susan Ormiston asks why there's a discrepancy in funding…and
discovers that the situation is leaving many communities across the
nation frustrated. That's on The Current with guest host Susan
Ormiston, today at 8:30 a.m. (9 NT) on CBC Radio One.

2. Q:

Today on Q…Texas singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett discusses and plays
from his latest - and 14th album - Natural Forces. The Grammy winner
features songs by other country greats - like Townes Van Zandt and
Robert Earl Keen - on this new release. He'll sit down with host Jian
Ghomeshi in Studio Q to talk about making the new record and the
influences behind it.

3. THE NEXT CHAPTER:

This week on The Next Chapter…celebrated writer and CBC host Linden
MacIntyre speaks about his Giller Prize-winning novel, The Bishop's
Man. It's a story about the Catholic church, Cape Breton and a priest
coping with a sexual abuse scandal. The Newfoundland-born, Nova Scotia-
raised author and journalist joins host Shelagh Rogers in front of a
live audience to discuss writing the book…and how real-life church
scandals impact the communities around them.

4. IDEAS IN THE AFTERNOON:

Today on IDEAS in the Afternoon…it's the first installment of science
journalist Dan Falk's look at the life and legacy of astronomer
Galileo. It was 400 years ago when a new optical device from Holland
made its way to Italy. It ended up in the hands of a progressive
mathematician named Galileo Galilei…who aimed the instrument towards
the sky. And our universe changed forever. On today's episode, Falk
tells the remarkable story of Galileo and the revolution he began.

"Looking Up", a tribute to Galileo Galilei …on IDEAS in the Afternoon
