is looking for YOUR songs!
While the official SongQuest songwriters are busy penning their
lyrics, CBC Radio 2 is giving YOU the opportunity to create and upload
your own musical masterpieces.
Write about any of the 13 chosen SongQuest locations…OR pick that
special spot in Canada that inspires you. Your song could end up
being discussed on air by songwriting experts - also known as CBC
Radio 2 hosts Tom Allen and Rich Terfry.

1. THE CURRENT:
This morning on The Current…a look at the U.S. Attorney General's
recent decision to hold the upcoming trials of the alleged September
11th conspirators in New York City. Some feel it's a fitting location
- just a few blocks away from Ground Zero. But many New Yorkers are
alarmed that the high anticipated legal proceedings will take place in
their city. The backlash is re-enforcing still raw emotions about the
2001 attacks. On today's program, host Anna Maria Tremonti explores
the debate on whether holding the 9/11 trials in New York City is the

canvas.

Today on Your DNTO…is listening a lost art form? Host Sook-Yin Lee
hears from a man who became a professional listener…and finds out the

Purdon turns to the DNTO hotline for help in translating what his
toddler is REALLY saying.

5. IDEAS:
This evening on IDEAS….a special interview with South African
illustrator William Kentridge. At age 54, he's the country's most
renowned living artist. Kentridge is best known for his charcoal
drawings and animated films that expose the socio-political realities
of South Africa -- both during AND after apartheid. On tonight's
episode, the CBC's Eleanor Wachtel talks to Kentridge about growing up
as the child of anti-segregation lawyers…and his struggle to find his
own way as an artist. They'll also explore how his homeland has
changed since the end of its 46-year apartheid era.
William Kentridge reveals the personal and political inspirations
behind his internationally acclaimed art. That's on IDEAS, tonight at

6. CANADA LIVE:
This evening on Canada Live…Montreal-based songwriter and pianist Mark
Berube shines at Le Cabaret Just For Laughs in Montreal. His most
recent album What the Boat Gave the River is a follow-up to his
previous release What the River Gave the Boat…and it features lush
arrangements and grooves set in Berube's special brand of lyrical
storytelling. He lets his child-like imagination run wild through each
song…for a massive sound infused with swelling instrumentals and
intimate vocals. Tonight, Berube assembles The Patriotic Few band
along with strings for a full-out performance in support of his latest
album.
It's a stunning and vibrant concert featuring Mark Berube on Canada
