HOTSHEET FOR TUESDAY DECEMBER 22, 2009

-- RADIO ONE --

1.THE CURRENT:

Today on The Current…. For more than 20 years, the United States has
banned anyone who has HIV or AIDS from crossing the border into the
country ... whether it's to travel, visit, shop or work. That ban will
be lifted on January 4th. The Current talks to one man about how his
life has been affected by the ban as well as the barriers he and other
HIV-positive people still face.
And ... last week, you heard the story of John Sloan, a family doctor
whose entire practice is built on house-calls to the frail elderly.
The Current follows up on that story with Donna Paradowski, a nurse
practitioner in Edmonton who has shifted her work in the same
direction and says nurse practitioners can and should play an
important role in elder care. That's on The Current with host Anna
Maria Tremonti, today at 8:30 a.m. (9 NT) on CBC Radio One.

2. Q:

Today on Q… Vanguard documentarian Kaj Larsen, a former US Navy Seal
with a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard, and an award-winning
journalist for Current TV discusses the remarkable and risky
international documentaries Vanguard makes. Daniel Klein and Thomas
Cathcart discuss how jokes can help us understand life's...and
death's...big questions, in their bestseller "Heidegger and a Hippo
Walk Through Those Pearly Gates." That's on Q with host Jian Ghomeshi…
today at 10:00 a.m. (10:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.

3. IN THE FIELD:

Today on In The Field we get into the holiday spirit with a
documentary from Halifax about a Christmas tradition that knits the
community together all year round. And Frank Faulk gets to the heart
of that wonderfully weighty word....hallelujah! That's coming up on
In The Field with host David Gutnick. Today at 1:00 p.m. (1:30 NT) on

6. CANADA LIVE:

The Good Lovelies are Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore,
all of them best friends and refugees from solo careers. Described as
"flirty-bluegrass" and "the mischievous Andrews Sisters" the Toronto-
based trio rely on unerring three-part vocal harmonies, clever songs
and, onstage, convulsively funny repartee. Tonight's Canada Live
taping finds them in friendly company at Le Petit Campus in Montreal.
Although there was a storm raging outside the Good Lovelies did
everything right and made the crowd forget the weather and focus on
having an absolutely lovely time! It's the Canadian Christmas Canon on
Canada Live, tonight at 7:00 p.m. (7:30 NT) on CBC Radio 2.
