For those interested in a decent SWR wattmeter for tuning GMRS
antennas D&L Antenna Supply http://www.wavehunter.com/ has the Zetagi
HP424 for $59.95. It has a frequency range of 120 MHz to 500 MHz. It
is a dual crossing meter design with the lowest reflected scale at 2
watts full scale nonlinear. Full scale power (forward) is selectable,
10W, 100W and 500W. I haven't used it yet but it looks like a well
built device.

Looks like a nice unit. Thanks for the tip!

This sounds like the unit that RatShack has available from RSU. It's in
the "normal" 2000 catalog near the ham gear (page 75?). Have a RatShack
catalog handy?

I'll check it out next time I'm in there. I've never seen a dual
meter SWR power meter in Radio Shack in person. I've asked
salesdroids about such meters and I get the usual blank stares or
they'll show me a CB meter.

I did use a very old CB SWR meter to tune one of the GMRS antennas I
use and when I checked it with the new meter it was on the nose. The
problem with the old CB meter was that I'd always get a reflected
reading so I nulled it as close as I could. It appeared to have
worked.

I don't think they stock it. Order only...
