Decent radio for the money. Nothing spectacular just an honest radio, decent
RX and TX. Makes rated power very easy on both bands. RX and TX Audio is
good. Programs with a PC very easy, kind of a pain in the ass to do it thru
the keyboard. Fits in your hand well, gray paint will wear off the edges of
the metal back cover.
I gave mine to the girlfriend (Licensed ham). I WOULD buy another one if
needed....
Hope this helps....

I have one and like it, not unlike most dual banders
without separate receivers... intermod can be a problem
in very urban areas, but I enjoy mine almost as much as
my W32A.

I've had mine for about 3 months now and I love it. You will definately want
to get another battery pack though as the one that comes with it (9.6v)
provides only 650 mAh so it's dead in just a few hours (it might last all
day if you don't transmit). I got the optional BP-170 battery case and I put
4 AA-sized Energizer 2300 maH ni-mh cells in it so it lasts a LOT longer.
There is also a company that cells a 6-cell version at
http://gallery.bcentral.com/Gallery/ProductDetails.aspx?GID=4864400&PID=2278688&page=1&sortOrder=0.
The radio has a very sensitive receiver. Out-of-band RX is very nice and it
even comes with the AM aircraft band. Along with the wide-band RX comes a
wide front-end which results in some nasty front-end overload when connected
to a base or full-sized mobile antenna in some urban areas depending on
where you're at but I suppose that is typical of units that support RX
out-of-band. Overall, this is an excellant radio that is well worth the
$180-200 you'll spend on it.

I have one and I like it. I do wish that it was capable of say transmitting
on one band while recieving on the other, as it would be good for satellite
operation.

Another note is that the factory replacement battery, is almost 100 dolllars
to replace the one that came with the damned thing. Considering I only paid
$199.00 for it, the battery is pretty damned expensive.

Maybe you'll like what you see at

http://nicdlady.com/radio_pr-ij.htm

I remember buying things from Grace Frisk (Now Grace Lloyd, N6WPA) when she
sold packs and cells as the NiCd Lady at the Santee, California swap meet.
Nice person.

I am very proud to announce that I have passed my Technician Class Exam
and since I previously had a novice class I also got the credit for that
as well.

Congrats!

Dig into the General manual and take that written too. Your previous novice
license is good for the code. Note the question pool changed July 1 so pick
up a new study guide.
