Does EchoLink still announce itself when connecting/disconnecting?

Just setup current version of EchoLink this morning and then
I read this blog posting from 2007 commenting about the way
it announces itself (and me) when it connects/disconnects.

Just wondering, does EchoLink still announce when
connecting and disconnecting to remote nodes/repeaters?
