150 The ideal of beauty is simplicity and tranquility.

Goethe (1749-1832)

180 We ascribe beauty to that which is simple;
which has not superfluous parts;
which exactly answers its ends.

Emerson (1803-1882)

Here are two "simplicity is beauty" quotations:

Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on
simplicity. --Plato

Facts which at first seem improbable will, even on scant explanation,
drop the cloak which has hidden them and stand forth in naked and
simple beauty. --Galileo

Here's a few...

"Happiness consists more in small conveniences of pleasures that occur
every day, than in great pieces of good fortune that happen but seldom
to a man in the course of his life."
Benjamin Franklin

"Tranquil pleasures last the longest; we are not fitted to bear long
the burden of great joys."
Henry Ward Beecher

"Simple pleasure are the last refuge of the complex."
Oscar Wilde (1856-1900)

"All the great pleasures of life are silent."
Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929)

"The happiest moments of my life have a been the few which I have
passed at home in the bosom of my family."
Thomas Jefferson

Just found another...

"I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life
which are the real ones after all."
~~Laura Ingalls Wilder

Then again...

Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.

And then, from Lionel Bart's 'Oliver!':

Small pleasures, small pleasures, who would deny us these?
Gin toddies, large measures - no skimping if you please;-)

What comes to my mind is that there has been some woman who wants power and she has been mentally dicapitated, then someone says to degrade her even more "There is beauty in simplicity."
