the quotation
"live fast, die young and make a good looking corpse"

- is it in fact James Dean?
- and if so from whence?

"Live fast, die young, leave a pretty corpse."

As far as my memory serves me, the quote was: "Live fast, die young, and
have a good looking corpse." It was said by Nick Romano, a character in
Willard Motley's novel, Knock on Any Door, published in the late 40's.
Motley wrote a sequel to this book, Let No Man Write My Epitath.
