Coffee spreads darkness.
Nietzsche in Ecce Homo II.1, trans W. Kaufmann
: Coffee spreads darkness.
I heard one on _Ideas_ (a CBC radio program) that was mentioned as a
traditional German saying. The translation (roughly) is:
Coffee: as hot as hell, as black as night, as sweet as love.
Anyone have the original German? If so can you comment on my translation?

Sicher, ehm ``sure':
Kaffee, hei\3, wie die H{\"o}lle, schwarz, wie die Nacht, s{\"u}\3, wie die
Liebe.
(damn umlauts/Umlaute)
I'm not sure, whether this is ``the perfect saying'', at least it is a
common interpretation in Germany.
