The earliest quote like this I have heard was from an old Hank Williams
song, "Live fast love hard die young, and leave a beautiful memory." It
sounds like your quote may be a parody of this one.

There is also a song called "Live Fast, Die Young", which is featured on
"Disgraceland" by those masters of *billy, "Elvis Hitler". I don't know if
it's a rockabilly "classic" that they merely do their version of, but it
deserves to be...

Hank Williams took his own advice in the early 50's (as I recall) before
Elvis came along. When I think of rockabilly, I think of Carl Perkins,
who wrote "Blue Suede Shoes", and was an influence on Elvis. I'm sure
Hank Williams influenced the genre, but I _think_ he predated it.
I heard this first attributed to John Dillinger.

It actually was a quote from the 1930's novel "Knock on Any Door". The
author's name escapes me at the moment.
I was sure it was Jim Morrison, but I couldn't find it in my quotes dictionary.
Dyllanne.
James Dean - who did a TV commercial for auto safety shortly before he
smashed up his Porsche.
Does anyone know any quotable lines from this commercial?
