Hi. I'm looking for the reference (and/or the original wording in
French) of Jean-Luc Godard's assertion that "[f]ilm begins with
D.W. Griffith and ends with Abbas Kiarostami".

A movie should have a beginning, a middle and an
end, though not necessarily in that order.
