Is that where Eric Tomorrow is? Does anyone know anything about
that place? Any clubs, record stores, cafes, fun things to do?
Specifically, Feb. 8-11? I thought I'd never be in Florida again
but family obligations dictate otherwise. Not expecting much.

I know we've been to Melbourne... I think the club was called the
Limelight, but i'm not 100% sure. I just remember that it was in some
sort of shopping center, and seemed too nice to be a strictly "punk"
club. It was one of those places that looked too big for local bands,
and too small for big touring bands. I think we were there with the
Bouncing Souls, so maybe that'll give you an idea of what kinda shows
they do...

I've actually spent a tonne of time in Melbourne, because my grandmother
lives there in the Winter. It's been a while since I passed through, but
I remember there being a few decent record shops and small cafes, but
not much else. Luckily, it's close to everything. Last I heard from Eric
T, he was... actually, I don't remember where in FLA he was going, but
when we met there he was living in Orlando and we drove our respective
cars to Cocoa Beach to meet and eat a late-nite breakfast at Denny's. If
you go to Melbourne, see if you can get a copy of Ink19, which might
give you more of an idea what the score is down there. And I spent some
time hanging out at a coffee shop called The Sun, which wasn't too bad.
I bought some CDs at a surf shop called the Groove Tube which was
amusing but unremarkable, and I can't really remember offhand what else
is fun there. I'll see if i can dig up some evidence of that and post it
later.

I grew up there. Moved away in 1997 (I think) and am in Austin now.

Thats the one, has been called the Zoo, the Powerstation, and a dozen
other names I cannot recall. I saw NOFX, Badbrains, 311, Gwar, and
many many more there. It was the center of Punk life in that town.

There is a surf shop in the Melbourne Sqaure Mall, local artists and
small venues post fliers there, or used to. Groove Tube is pretty
cool. Some vinyl stuff but it really caters to a hippie surfer crowd.
There was also this place called the Brothel which was nothing more
than a warehouse with skate ramps in it and no AC. Great place to go
on a summer night and see small touring and local bands and get heat
stroke. I also used to live a couple blocks from the Sun. It became
the only coffee shop in town after the Lazy Bean was the scene of some
record breaking Acid bust.

Also in West Melbourne at the Metro Twin (maybe still the name, corner
of Wickham and 192) they still show the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Some fun might be found there.

If you want more info on the town email me. I dont really have any
ties to the town anymore. I was back there last summer when my dad
passed away and will never be back as far as I can see.

In alt.punk, Staniforth., jesse_nu...@my-deja.com, says...

My Grandmother and several
cousins I don't like live there
year round, and my parents
live there in the Winter.

their airport is nice enough.

I couldn't tell you anything about
anything. All I ever get stuck
doing is shuttling my relatives
to and from the doctor's office.
Going to the Vero Beach Mall, etc.

I went down to melbourne a lot because besides Tampa
they booked a lot of hardcore. I saw Sick of it All down there
and Bio Hazard and most recently Agnostic Front. There is a scene
there in a strip mall. It is cool. yeah check Ink19 at any surfshop.
they may be on line?
You should check out the beach and some fresh seafood etc.

Some times I miss Florida. I hope you have fun. (hit and RUN!!!!)

There's a place called The Hustler in a strip mall on US-1 in Melbourne
Beach that has punk shows, I was told, though nothing's been going on any
time I've been there.
