Why would they? Wasn't he taught to speak by Englishmen?
The three accents that seem reasonable for him to me are upper-class
English, pidgin (really, how well could he learn spoken language as an
adult? But yes, that's interjecting reality into a fantasy and so
irrelevant), and American (since that's what you get when you film in
Hollywood and are lazy).
