No big changes. Found out Ted will be deployed to Iraq in March unless
things change drastically between now and then. Not happy about that,
but it's out of my control. We to the bi-annual family reunion over
Easter. It was fun. :) Took Liz to the Georgia Aquarium for her 18th
birthday. That was fun, and if I can ever get the pics uploaded I'll
share. We went to the Titanic exhibit there and that, too, was really
cool, but no pics. This weekend, it's Tailgate Party time to finish
off our annual Come-See-Me festival. I noticed none of you have come
to see me so you must not have got the announcement. ;)
So what's new/improved with y'all? I miss everybody. I don't like
posting all by my lonesome, it makes me look sad and pathetic, and I
may be one of those but I'm not both!
T
Lol ;-) "No big changes" seems to fit here, too (or even little ones).
Life goes on, and pretty well atm. One funny thing, when I got back to
the warehouse tonight there was a new poster up (all *over* the place)
announcing that Friday, May 15th we'll be having driver's meetings and
the "End of Winter" event, and Sunday, May 17th we'll be having an
"End of Summer" barbecue. I know that it sure seems that time goes by
quicker now than it did when I was younger, but this is a bit on the
ridiculous side ;-)

Hugs re: Ted.
I'm glad you had fun with Liz.

I got some good news this week. It looks like I've arranged financing
to get my boiler repaired/replaced (just waiting for the paperwork to
complete its passage and the money to be released).

I'm still here!!!

Oh dear. The universe will be given a talking-to about watching over
him, and I'll send lot of love to you.

Heh.

New...well, not a whole lot. Ryan is in his final quarter at UC Irvine.
He'll be graduating in June with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He's currently on a team that's building a formula hybrid vehicle and
will be going to New Hampshire next weekend to compete with other
schools. Now to hope he gets a job.
Caitlin is currently doing the college tour thing with her dad. So far
this week they've gone to UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, and Cal Poly San Luis
Obispo. Tomorrow they tour UC Santa Barbara then head home. Any other
schools she's interested in are close enough to do as day trips,
including UC San Diego, or are local enough to be commutable - UC
Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly Pomona. Fortunately she doesn't
have to make a final decision for another year, and then it's from
whichever schools accept her. We'll see what happens. I suspect that
UC Davis is now on her "definitely apply to" list because she learned
that they have 3 musical theater groups on campus, and she'd like to be
involved in that as long as she has time.
Here's a couple videos of her school choral groups at their spring
concert/open house. Caitlin is the one with glasses; she looks just
like me, but it works better on her <g>

The second one was the most ambitious production number the school has
ever done. The video should have been shot with a wide angle the entire
time because there was so much going on.
And here's from fall:

Caitlin is the soprano soloist at the beginning and end.
Little Sarah is finishing up her first year of Hebrew school in
preparation for her bat mitzvah in 3 years. She's still pretty excited
about learning to read Hebrew so the novelty hasn't worn off yet. She's
doing really well in school, and the maturity issues we had a couple
years ago have disappeared for the most part. She still has some
frustration issues, but those are rare now, and she's better able to
control them. She's also enjoying being a Brownie.
I'm in my second semester of the pharmacy technician program at Santa
Ana College. I'm still kicking butt and taking names in class - got an
A in the inpatient pharmacy class and have 97% of the written points and
93% of the lab points in my outpatient procedures class (only need a
minimum of 70% in each in order to take the finals, then only need to
pass with 70% on both finals) - and should be starting my externships
this summer. With luck I'll get a job offer after externship, and
ideally it will be in a hospital setting. I really don't want to work
retail unless I have absolutely no other choice. My instructor thinks
I'll find something in a hospital, though, so that's encouraging.
I really should be doing homework, but I'm gonna play for a while
instead :-)

Good luck to him.

Choices, I remember those days (just). I hope she finds one she
likes.

Learning languages maybe hard work but the day you sit down and have a
conversation with somebody, it's a great feeling.

Congratulations and good luck.
By the way my boiler died again about a month or so ago so it is
fairly urgent.

Maybe they know something you don't. ;)
T
That is definitely good news, 'Cisco! :)
T
Thank you. I knew it'd either be Iraq or Afghanistan, and at this
point I think Iraq is the lesser of two evils.

Fingers crossed on the job. How'd the competition go?

How cool! She's a smart cutie who can sing. Lucky girl. :)

I can't believe she's as old as she is. Time really does fly now.

I think the medical field has been less hard hit than the rest, so
I'll wish you luck but don't think you'll need it. :)

You should. Remember what happened to Jack when he was all work and no
play. ;)

Cisco
You can get insurance for your boiler and heating (assuming its gas fired)
from British Gas and a number of private companies. It'll cost a few pounds
a month, but for that they will service your boiler regularly and in case of
problems will be round to fix it or REPLACE it if needed in a few hours.
There is no reason at all to wait weeks to get this fixed.
TC
But you have to take that insurance out BEFORE it breaks. The
annoying thing is I did get a leaflet through my post last summer and
considered it...
I apologize heartily, darling T....I feel and have been feeling singularly
uninteresting :-(
Give sweet Liz a hug, even though we've never met. And Ted will be in my
prayers, along with my nephew Sean, who is joining the Marines in
September.
Do you have ANY idea how much I would love for us to come see you? And the
ocean too, of course :-) The first and only vacation Ken & I have taken
was in July 2004 to Myrtle Beach. And, for the nonce (read: at least a
year), finances do not include the self-indulgence of a trip. *le sigh*
New and improved? Ha. We're still the same old, same old. <shrug> Other
than that, Ian will be 16 (!?!?!?!) this August. He is still the sweet,
compassionate guy he has always been, albeit with some teenage angst,
attitudes and opinions, but I couldn't be prouder of how he's turning out.
Give yourself a huge hug and kiss from me, my dear friend....and know that
you're always in my heart.
*smootch*
