Hi,
If there is anyone out there well versed in the Enneagram, I am trying
to locate a book I read when I was in a bookstore overseas. It was on
the Enneagram. Obviously there are many such books. This one claimed to
be different in that it went into more detail about 'health' aspects of
each type. You had the healthy, average and unhealthy and each were
divided into 3 levels. So there's 9 levels for each type, then wings,
then integration and disintegration(?) etc and it was quite well
explained. For once I found some real insight that the MBTI etc style
tests could not bring out...

Anyway anyone know the name of this book? I think there was more than
one author, but I can't be certain...

While I can't help you out with the title you're looking for I'd suggest you go
to www.amazon.com and just type "Enneagram" in the book search section. They
will then list all the books they have available on this subject.

Good luck!

Tim, I think you mean the Riso and Hudson book. It's in my bookstore at

Hi. I read the same book in a bookstore. I can't remember the title either,
but like you, I like the way it was classified. It helped you understand why
same types could be healthy and unhealthy. Next time I go to Borders, I will
look for it.

The author you are talking about is definitely Don Richard Riso. To my
knowledge he is the one who discovered and developed the "Levels of
Development" which you referred to above. Also I believe he also developed the
idea of "directions of integration and disintegration". I have most of his
books on the enneagram and he is my favorite author in this area. I would VERY
HIGHLY recommend "Personality Types" (revised edition, ISBN: 0395798671).

I think I fairly well versed in the enneagram having studied mostly Riso's
work for the past 4 years or so. I haven't attended any of his seminar's
though, but I plan to. I would be happy to answer or discuss anything you
might have in mind. I also have studied the MBTI quite a lot also.

Happy trails,
