Is anyone having problems with ELN's usenet server?

Same thing on this end... we normally feed news into earthlink and
connections open and then terminate. Email to the news people has not
been replied to but apparently they are having email server issues as
well.

Looks like the bad days of the early 2000s when they were constantly
melting down.

nntp.earthlink.net is finally working again for me even though
Escalation's Shine said it was fixed this morning at 10:46 AM PDT, but
it wasn't.

Which e-mail address(es) did you use to contact?

I could not log in this morning (Thursday) but got an email that
by 5:00 EDT it was up again.

3 online chats 3 phone rep chats later the last online chat tech i talked to
actually did his job and checked with the server level team and my problem
they said was because
I updated my credit card information for my account .
I had no choice the bank that issues the card i pay for my account with was
bought by capital one.
the only person who could actually tell me what the problem was was the 3rd
online chat tech i talked to.
It has something to do with some restriction that EarthLink has on its news
servers that they don't offer or allow news group access to new accounts
only existing accounts such as mine been with the company since 1996 when it
came to my state.
I even talked to a tech support floor manager and got the same story and
that i needed to wait up to 72 business hours for them to correct it.
Did any of you change or update youre credit card information and have the
same problem?

I've had that problem before. Added a new mailbox.

Nowadays, I just go straight to chat - the "help/FAQ" is
irrelevant. And tell them that I've been a customer since ought six
(or 1999 in my case) so what gives.

But this apparently was a system wide server issue.

I had forgotten about the restriction on the news Server farm.
I don't understand what takes up to 4 days to program the log in software
for the server that so and so's account is legit and the user can log in.
But i pay for EarthLink as it is why pay more for a separate news server
from an out side provider:)

You must also have Internet Service from EarthLink.

When I switched to cable from DSL (Totally separate account, separate bills
and Earthlink used a third party to tell ConCast I wanted Cable so they did
not know I was coming from Earthlink) Tier three was the only person who
realized the problem and signed me up for a cheap dial-up account that I
will never use.

Ah, was yours from sca_esc...@corp.earthlink.net? I got annoyed of
ELN keep calling me when I told them just to e-mail me. They don't even
answer my e-mails I replied to.

No i have EarthLink dial up as a back up and what i use to do the EarthLink
news groups.
I also have spectrum cable services and iam able to access the EarthLink
news servers over it:)
I do have an EarthLink account with dial up as a back up to my spectrum
cable account:)
EarthLink does NOT offer the speeds that spectrum offers for the price i pay
in my area:)

I fixed the calling problem by changing my contact number to my cell phone
that is never on unless i call someone and expect a call back i use it for
voice mail on the go and if needed phone service when out:)
My EarthLink news service was back up and running by 1am Thursday night in
to Friday morning:)
