NNTP server dead?

The intermittent login failures escalated on 1 Jan. 2024. Before that repeated attempts would eventually result in success. Not now. Just constant "481 Invalid username or password" errors.

So either something broke, Earthlink failed to pay the bill, or Earthlink decided to drop Usenet completely without telling anyone. I have been banging my head against customer service but have little hope of ever finding the one person remaining who has a clue about Usenet. If there is one.

It's back again. I still got many failed logins before yesterday though. :( Finally, back on!

I noticed a little bit ago. Surprisingly it seems to be working better.
I haven't had one failure to login.

But the day isn't over yet. :-)

It would seem that they did find the one person who has a clue. Better
than the "reset your modem" I got earlier.
