Is there hope?

Maybe and definitely not.

Is this man going to end up being everything the radical right hoped
he wouldn't be?

Obama Freezes Pay, Toughens Ethics and Lobbying Rules (Update2)

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=azQJo_wu7f64

By Roger Runningen

Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said he’s freezing the
pay of senior White House staff employees who make more than $100,000
a year and imposing new ethics rules designed to diminish the
influence of lobbyists.

Obama also said he is ordering federal agencies to make it easier for
the public to get documents and information from the government.

“We are here as public servants, and public service is a privilege,”
Obama said, addressing his White House staff and Cabinet on his first
full day in office. “It’s not about advancing yourself or your
corporate clients.”

The president’s directives were among his first official acts and
preceded meetings with his top advisers on the two major challenges
facing his administration: the faltering economy and the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan.

In all, Obama signed two executive orders and three presidential
directives aimed at making government more open and accountable and
taking steps toward fulfilling some of his campaign promises.

The president said that when top White House aides leave government,
they are barred from lobbying “for as long as I am president, and
there will be a ban on gifts by lobbyists to anyone serving in the
administration.”

Lobbying Limits

A lobbyist who joins the Obama administration also is forbidden from
working on issues they previously were involved with, he said. Any
person who leaves the administration will be barred from lobbying the
government for two years.

“We need to close the revolving door that lets lobbyists come into
government freely and lets them use their time in public service” to
promote their own interests when they leave, the president said.
Government hiring, he said, will henceforth be based on
qualifications, competence and experience, “not political
connections.”

Regarding the pay freeze, which will leave pay levels for senior
positions where they were under President George W. Bush, Obama said
he is acting because “families are tightening their belts and so
should Washington.”

There are more than 100 White House staff positions under the office
of the president that pay more than $100,000 annually, including chief
of staff, White House counsel and chief speechwriter.

Disclosure

To promote transparency in government, Obama said federal agencies and
departments should err on the side of disclosing information rather
than keeping it from the public when responding to Freedom of
Information Act requests.

Under the directive, a White House statement said, three officials
must produce an “open government” manual within 120 days. Attorney
General designate Eric Holder is ordered within the same time frame to
develop new guidelines for greater disclosure.

“For a long time there has been too much secrecy in this city,” Obama
said. “The old rules said that if there was a defensible argument for
not disclosing something to the American people, then it should not be
disclosed. That era is now over.”

The move was another signal that Obama is making a clear break from
the former administration. Bush tightened rules limiting disclosures
after the Sept. 11 attacks and came under fire from Democratic members
of Congress for withholding documents.

Executive Privilege

Obama also decreed that only he would have the power to assert
executive privilege, so as to “limit its potential for abuse.” That
may be a reference to former Vice President Dick Cheney’s assertion of
executive privilege in keeping documents from Congress. His actions
triggered lawsuits from historians and open government advocates.

Conveniently, none of the relevant Bush Whitehouse documents,
including his 2008 Executive Order regarding the adjustments of
certain rates of pay, are available online... not even with the
Google "Cache" option.

One thing I can assure you though is that it effects almost
nobody.

As of, what, 2005, there were more than 19 million people
drawing a salary from the U.S. federal government, but as of
2008 Obama's order would effect a grand total of something
like 130. Count them yourself:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/opinions/graphics/2008stafflistsalary.html

Oops, the key word I mistakenly ignored was "Senior." There
is by no means any reason to assume that any Whitehouse
staff member making more than $100K is "Senior," so the
actual number of people with frozen salaries is probibly a lot
LESS than the 130 (out of more than 19 million) that I
estimated.

Yes, and "Clear Skies" was the legislation "Designed" to
dramatically reduce power plant emissions by dramatically
increasing the amount of pollution they could bellow into
the atmosphere.

And that means... what?

Seriously, why is a fluff piece like this even making it to
print, never mind re-posted here?

Is Obama really so freaking awful that they have to invent
excuses to say good things about him? Sheesh!

Look, you irradiated fairy fur ball, setting an early example at the
very top for greater austerity measures to be taken later is exactly
the hallmark of a good mature caring leader. Is there something you'd
like him to do outside legislative majority approval, such as a
dictator would normally do? He can only do so much in...well, in 72
fucking hours, tinkerbell. LOL! In he meantime, Johnny, play some
Scrabble with your dolls. You win everytime. That should make you feel
better. Or, better yet, have a lil' pillow talk with Nostradamus.

All those positions got big pay raises in 2008.

It's 2009, and Obama froze ONLY the salaries of
"Senior" Whitehouse officials earning more than
$100K a year. It's a move that effects *Dozens*
of people in a government that emplyees more than
19 million.

Dude, that qualifies as full-blown propaganda!

Second, the "Ethics in Government" law ALREADY
said that an official had to wait two years before
engaging in any lobbying, and it has said so for
decades. Past tense.

So, let's see... pay freezes that effect almost nobody...
anti-lobbying efforts that have already been the law
for decades... WHAT THE FUCK? Are you blind as

You're crazy if you wish to draw premature conclusions on the value of
his leadership in a job he's held for exactly 4 days. Jeez. How'd you
like it if someone judged your job performance and character that
soon? If you're expecting spectacular sweeping changes in his first
week, then you've naively bought the media hype, lock, stock, and
barrel. No president has the ability to make tremendous lasting
changes, or move mountains at the speed of sound, without the help of
a majority in both houses. And that takes a bit of time to set up and
execute. Now, if you think that Bush made any significant changes in
his first 8 MONTHS of office, go back and look at his miserable
record. He vacationed, and vacationed, and vacationed...and little was
done until Sept. 11th. And, even then, he sat dazed in a classroom,
looking like the headlights of a semi-truck were fast approaching.
LOL! The expectations are overly high for this man, and I've said that
repeatedly here. And the impatience is there, too. We'll look back on
this time period and realize that much was accomplished in his first
term, that will be quite significant overall. But, if we're going to
follow every lil' news development, by the hour, as if it meant
something grandly special, we're gonna get awfully upset and
disillusioned with his presidency. The media has raised expectations
way too high, and I could clearly see that while he was running in the
primaries. Every lil' misstep was magnified, yet the man ran a great
highly-organized campaign and has chosen many highly qualified WH
staffers, which have been praised by both parties. Obama isn't JFK,
but he's far more a leader than a muckraking POW and his inept
bumbling playmate...

I'm not sure why it would be. The following letter to the editor tells
the story of the state of the media in this country. Our illustrious
media fell all over themselves protecting Obama during the campaign,
when Joe the Plumber dared to question a politician, and was raked
over the coals by the media, who looked into his background and
discovered that he owed eleven-hundred dollars in back taxes.

Meanwhile, the same media gives a big collective YAWN when it is
discovered that Obama's selection for Treasury Secretary failed to pay
$34,000 in owed taxes -- and not only that, he was given the money by
his employer, so that he could pay those taxes, and he STILL didn't
pay them. This is the guy who is going to be in charge of the IRS, and
he cheated on his taxes! But it's far more important to expose Joe the
Plumber than it is to expose a tax cheating Treasury Secretary, isn't
it?

This is the state of our union, ladies and gentlemen of the world. It
was once the job of the media to protect private citizens and expose
politicians. Now they seem to think it's their job to expose private
citizens and protect politicians. Incredible, isn't it?

[quoting]
To the Editor:

When it was revealed that Joe the plumber owed the IRS $1,182.92, he
was chastised as being a crook, dishonest and un-American. His ethics
and everything else in his rather mundane life was questioned. He
became a target on every liberal blogosphere.

Poor Joe the plumber probably wished Obama had never ventured down his
street and asked him what he thought of “redistribution of wealth.” He
must wonder what he did wrong to turn his life into a political
fishbowl. Now, a few months later, another American is in the
spotlight for his problems with the IRS: Timothy Geithner. Like Joe
the plumber, he, too, failed to pay back taxes: $34,000 to be exact.

You would think that this public figure, too, should be the subject of
ridicule and examination by the media and God-fearing America. Wrong.
It just so happens that Timothy Geithner is applying for a government
job in the Obama administration.

That job is chief of the U.S. Treasury! If the guy who will be in
charge of the IRS is guilty of not paying his taxes, isn’t that a sign
that maybe he is not the right person for the job?

So far, his congressional allies and the media have defended him
saying, “He just made an honest mistake!” He isn’t qualified to be
chief of the Treasury anymore than Joe the plumber is qualified to be
a political pundit.

It sounds more like business as usual in Washington rather than the
“change” we voted for.

And this bitching and moaning 4 days into the Obama Presidency is
exactly why I said I can always rely on Americans' monumental
impatience to dirty the waters. Every partisan that wants him to fail,
is in a brazen hurry to do so -- and that reveals much about the
"wisdom" of supporting the sleazy, disorganized, muckraking
alternative we had last November. Two Republican candidates passed
around unfounded allegations questioning Obama's patriotism, and the
media dutifully reported every rumor. No news channel wasn't reporting
on Obama's "guilt by association" relationships around the clock - it
began early with rumors he ideologically was in bed with Farrakhan and
then it was his preacher, and then Ayers, and then it was "something"
he may have to do with the disgraced Illinois Governor, or his wife
was unpatriotic, or his background made him suspect, or he was still
using drugs, or he was a socialist, or he was a racist, or he was a
false christian, or he was...and now...it's nitpicking over the
pastors he chose for the inaugural, the Treasury Secretary that
followed in the footsteps of a long line of cabinet and congressional
members in not reporting part of his taxes. If you can find a Cabinet
of scores of appointees and not find one or two that've been less than
honest, or a little greedy, then I challenge you to name one
administration in US history that has not been affected. Greed is
systemic in the country, if not the damned species, and background
checks are prone to mistakes. If I had to list all the mistakes,
missteps, false allegations, irrational leaps, disingenuous tongue-
waggin you've made here over the years, we'd have to inventory them
with a dozen server-mainframe's hard drives.

My God, Randy, that's the last piece of the puzzle.

Biological father dead at an early age from liver disease. A drunken
disinterested mother unable to protect Steven from systematic rape by
her enabling 4th husband.

No wonder this sort of thing, repeated over 400 times, so conveniently
fits within his ideology, his false Christianity. He's dead on the

I wonder if you think the other members of this group greatly admire
you for your continued fiction? Or are you just trying to cover for
Randy's sickness, which has him posting his increasingly violent
sexual fantasies on a group where they are just inappropriate? Imagine

Impatience? The guy had been running for President

Premature? Monkey, George Dubya Bush was
still a month away from taking his stolen office
when I said this:

: I'm concerned. No, wait. I'm serious. You see, for years
: now -- all through Clinton's successful economic plan
: and deficit reduction -- the republicans had been
: screeming that Clinton had little (if any) influence on the
: economy or the budget. Yup. Clinton's economic plan
: (which not one single republican voted for) didn't do
: anything. And his budget reduction, well underway
: prior to the republican take-over, was all their
: doing. Not Clinton's. This concerns me. Why? Because
: when the economy shits the bed (which it will) the
: republicans are all going to look like the useless,
: rhetoric spewing bottom dwellers that they are. So
: here's my plan:
:
: Republicans should start -- right now -- talking about
: how Clinton is & was the single biggest influence on
: the economy that there ever was. And, as for the
: budget, well, no one and nothing can get anything by
: him. Clinton is your God. This way when you wreck
: the economy (yet again) you'll only have eight years
: of words you'll have to eat. If you can only get people
: to forget all your wailing these past eight years, you
: might be able to brainwash a few into believing that
: you didn't do what you always do (i.e. fuck-up).

Go on, monkey, post the URLs to some of your messages
where you defended Bush from those early criticism.

Hypocrite.

And yet you've howled over this like a Palestinian mother howling over

stevie continues to apologize for those who wish to wage agressive
warfare. Then he wimpers like a baby when confronted with an
alternate view-point. stevie is the poster-child for the
entitlement generation which culminated in the most obscene raping
of our country's resources ever in our history. He wishes for
complete safety and security at the expense of all those around
him. stevie's twisted thinking is the result of an 'attack first
lest we be attacked' policy. Nothing could make him happier
than to kill all the brown-skinned individuals in the world.
stevie harbors genocidal thoughts.

You ARE on drugs, aren't you? You began thusly:

"It's 2009, and Obama froze ONLY the salaries of
"Senior" Whitehouse officials earning more than
$100K a year. It's a move that effects *Dozens*
of people in a government that emplyees more than
19 million.

Dude, that qualifies as full-blown propaganda!

Second, the "Ethics in Government" law ALREADY
said that an official had to wait two years before
engaging in any lobbying, and it has said so for
decades. Past tense.

So, let's see... pay freezes that effect almost nobody...
anti-lobbying efforts that have already been the law
for decades... WHAT THE FUCK? Are you blind as
well as crazy? "

And I responded that you're being IMPATIENT by expecting sweepin
changes in a few days...and that's the gist of it.

Ya lil' sniveling impatient overly-critical runt of a crack whore's

It's Day 6 of his PRESIDENCY -- hard to make national policy work
while running for office, and really impossible to be President until
you're sworn in.

That's an excellent, deeply insightful assessment of our system and
society. Entitled to the pre-emptive murder of third world peoples
who's basic human needs impede our consumption of their resources to
the detriment of our luxurious lifestlyes.

I'm sure many people are going to take a deeper look at who we are and
how we came to be in our current situation.

We'll have several years of hard times to think about it.

Violence begets violence. He can't see it in the Holy Land, he can't
see the fruits of it in his own psyche. Heavily into denial, for
sure. Hopefully he's content with abusing children by proxy in
faraway lands and not actually doing it himself. I guess that's an

It's also the root of all this obsessive behavior of his.

He's a glutton for being prodded into baring his blackened soul. Part
of that life in hell being driven to publish things that expose this
murderous heart, that bloody ideology.

Trying to justify the murder of 400 children in the name of self
defense, but it seems he's he's always had this obsession with things

Never have been. I don't feel the need to make up *lies* about other
posters here. You can't debate me straight-up, so you resort to lying

What makes you think I have anything to do with Hamas shooting
thousands of rockets into Israel? And you know, if it had been Israel
shooting thousands of rockets into Gaza for several years, and the
Arab world finally decided it had had enough, and attacked those
rocket sites -- and if the Israelis who were firing the rockets were
hiding behind women and children, who do you think I'd be
criticizing?

As for making the world safer for Muslim children, did you support the
bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999? I've asked you this several times, and
you've never answered. Somehow, I'm sure you'll fail to answer this
time as well.

No, just the terrorists who are responsible. How do you feel about the

Ask Nostradamus for guidance as to what Obama will do. Don't pee and
moan about him, or bother to support Bush who nearly everyone
justifiably hates...no, merely give us channeling from the 400 year
old dead guy, and let us all know what the Obama adminstration will

Really? Why should I be thankful for *lies* told about me in the form
of violent sexual fantasies?

No, Randy, the violent sexual fantasies, and the blatant posting of
them on this group, was your doing. It's you who is making up his own
little reality by trying to offload your sickness onto me.

If you were so indignant about it, you'd ferry off into the distance.
Instead, you float your boat on the dock right here, every day, where
we've repeatedly told you we can't stomach your personality. Now, I'd
say you must be a sadomasochist, and, since you joined a fascistic
group to be told what to do every hour, and pass responsibility to
your superiors, I can well understand why you're a glutton for abuse.
However, the abuse is two-way. It's just that your methodology of
abusiveness materializes the same way as a menstruating ol' Mormon
bitch who's had a bad hair day. You ain't got the balls to just
express your pent-up anger, noooo, you parcel it out in lil' tidbits
to supposedly show how much in control you are.
But, that doesn't show control, it shows psychosis. You're so afraid
of being just a human being with emotions that you ridiculously keep
reminding us of how proud you are that you're not that way. LOL!

You have your own flavor of mental sickness, junior, and it's a flavor
that leaves a bitter taste in all of us. The only way we can get along
with you is to keep arguing with you until the chickens are all cooked
in the pot. You don't know how to relate to someone unless they serve
as a morally inferior object on your insanely patriotic measuring
stick and engage them in "self-worth comparison" exercises. And, as
always, you're self-regarded as the most worthy, the mos patriotic,
the mostest of everything.

So because there are some *liars* who post here, I should run away
with my tail between my legs? On the contrary, the *liars* only
strengthen my resolve to stay here, Docko. As for this "we've" you're
assuming to speak for, do you think you own this group? Do you have
some weird idea that I'm trespassing on your personal property?
Sheesh, this is an unmoderated usenet forum, where anyone in the world

Why, oh why, does it always come down to YOU here? How important you
are to this group, in your fantasy? You're not important here, except
to provide us with fodder for our contempt for the disingenuousness
you exude, the tricks and dodges, the distractions, the trivial
nitpicking crap...hell, you'd more than jump at the opportunity to
control and own this group if we'd acquiesce to your way of thinking,
junior. And you keep trying to get us to agree...and, if not, then you
use your underhanded conversational tactics to elevate yourself
morally, socially, intellectually. If confronting "liars" and
exposing them is your goal, then look no farther than your own lies
and deceptive personality. Spin it this way, spin it another, assume
one political stripe and blend it with another, slither to the Left a
bit, slither to the Right a bit more...it doesn't matter, WE know
you're a phony, a liar, an asshole. And let's not have that ol'
Blagojevich Syndrome, kid, manifest itself from you again -- that
you're being unfairly treated, crucified for being a truth crusader,
and morally upright compared to your sleazy opposition. Noooo, let's
not be like ol' self-righteous Rod...just be your usual narcissistic

Something else I found interesting in that thread are the references
to Israel and Gaza. I saw myself writing something I could have
written today, and another poster writing the usual anti-Israel tripe
that could be written today by the typical Jew-hating anti-Semites.

Every bit of the ongoing war over there is caused by the anti-Israel
Jew-hating terrorists, who are supported by people who hate God.
If there is ANY other explanation for why so many people in this
world hate tiny little Israel while they ignore China's mistreatment
of its Uyghur Muslim population (for example), please explain it to me.

The propaganda agenda of the libs instils polarizing hate, by matter of
fact this includes the anti-semitism, which is deliberately engineered.
This is not a divine fulfilment of biblical prophecy but an artifact of
strategic investment. The bible does not require "antisemitism" as a
concept for the prophecies to be fulfilled. This is a recent spin. The
2000s saw the agencies do the same thing in exploiting islamic prophecy
by faking it to achieve the ends of the kingdom.

The difference is that China's action is not bankrolled by the "west"'s
interests (which the fourth kingdom of daniel, biblically identified as
having with worl domination, none of the other kingdoms qualify) while
Israel's action against the "minorities" is indeed bankrolled by the
West.

This is a link to a muslim propaganda poster -- i'm only linking it to
show the quality of propaganda in your post is similar, and it is
definitely not biblical or relevant biblically but only falls in the
realm of the false prophet deluding the world to make the world worship
the beast.

Israel was taking no action in Gaza. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2006,
and removed the Israeli citizens who were living there. The Palestinians
had their own state, they held an election and elected Hamas. And it's
been all terror, all the time ever since. How should the Israelis respond
to constant terrorist attacks? Especially the one that happened on
October 7? When is enough enough?

Thank you. That poster does not acknowledge that there was peace
on October 6, and only one side started this current war -- the same
side that ALWAYS starts it. And finally, Israel has had enough of being
constantly attacked, and they are doing to do something about it. And
the world cries out that Israel should not defend themselves, they
should just agree to be attacked again, and again, and again, and .........

By focussing on something that is tinier than Israel: Palestine.
primitive helpless 3rd world people with sticks and stones. We are
expected to think that it is a matched against greatest most powerful
nation on earth with full dominance in all fields. Really?

But this is precisely the sort of fraud that satan can pull off with all
the resources at his hand.

Sorry, I can see it is different and I can expect you can see it too if
you are honest enough. The difference is the position of the Jews
today, they are not the oppressed underdog of the OT that God favoured,
and had to protect from Invading armies, with his strength. Israel
wields that strength today, and exercises it to protect its position.
Antisemitism today is any statement or non-statement of this Jewish
supremacy.

If you are looking for a poor entimes people, oppressed by the greatest
power in the world, that God has sworn to destroy, you would be looking
at the Palestinians, who have nothing substantial except their faith to
continue their survival. The 4th kingdom of Daniel that will be
shattered by the Messiah isnt some rogue 3rd world nation like iran or
south korea, it is the dominant kingdom of the time.

The sort of atrocities that you bring up against the jews through the
millennia are being perpetrard thoughout the present world through other
peoples. Satan has franchised it. There is plenty of tribulation to go
around in the present world, and if God decides to rescue some people he
would have plenty to choose from.

These are self-evident to me, and I am afraid convinced your agenda is
non-bibical, I do not care to see a restatement of the history to
support your claims, but it pains me to see your position in relation to
your stated biblical position. I have no wish to debate the points.

Not to do with the above, but I have two reading recommendations. I
dont know if you are familiar with the theology of Girard (I am not),
but there may be an introduction to the gospel through the lens of
violence here (40 pages)

https://biblicalstudies.org.uk/pdf/whitley-lectures_2nd-series/2000-01-whitley-lecture_finamore.pdf

I think this is relevant to the narrative of violence that clouds the
present discurssion.

The other is a propaganda piece I came across today in the newspaper.
https://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/is-right-wing-populism-seeing-a-resurgence-across-the-world/article67684886.ece
apparently excertpted from this podcast (that I have not heard)
https://traffic.megaphone.fm/THGU1265287929.mp3

which tries to explain "right-wing populism", look at Irfan's
characterisation of populism, and how he distinguishes between
Right-wing and left-wing populism, says they are similar and then
invokes Trump, and makes right-wing populism about something else.

I want to draw attention to the technique, because I think it is
relative to the narration going on here.

Israel did not attack Hamas (the elected leaders of Gaza), Hamas
attacked Israel.
>
> But this is precisely the sort of fraud that satan can pull off with all

When I asked previously about the world's focus on Israel while
they ignore the horrors of China, you said it's because the U.S.
supports Israel. I started thinking, in 1941 the U.S. was attacked
by Japan because we were supporting China. The U.S. cut off the
oil we sold to Japan because of Japan's invasion of China. So
Japan attacked us at Pearl Harbor, and that officially started
the war in the Pacific during World War II.

In the 1970s, the U.S. opened China to the corporate world,
which has allowed China to become an economic superpower. As
the U.S. has transferred much of our manufacturing to China,
we buy from them all sorts of goods that are now made there.

Yet the people who say they care about the Palestinians are
able to completely ignore the plight of China's Uyghur Muslims,
and the reason for that would remain a mystery to me if I didn't
know the reason. It's because the people who support Hamas also
hate Israel -- because the Jews are God's chosen people.

No, they exercise it to protect their existence. Do you believe
Israel has a right to exist? Because the people you support do
not believe Israel has a right to exist. It's in the Hamas charter
that Israel does not have the right to exist, and Israel and Jews
must be eliminated. Do you agree with that?
>

They did not have that supremacy in 1948, when Israel declared
their independence and were immediately attacked by five Arab
nations. There is a reason Israel has developed such a strong
military, it's because they have been regularly attacked from the
moment they came into existence in 1948.
>
> If you are looking for a poor entimes people, oppressed by the greatest
> power in the world, that God has sworn to destroy, you would be looking
> at the Palestinians,

No, I would be looking at what Jesus said in Matthew 24, where
he said in a parable that Israel would be secure and prosperous
in the End Times. There is nothing about the Palestinians in the
End Times prophecies in the Bible. In fact, the name "Palestinian"
has nothing to do with any Arab people. That name was given to
the Holy Land after the Roman Empire ran the Jews off the land
and the Romans renamed that land to erase any memory of the
Jews and the former Israel and Judah.

The name, "Palestinian" comes from the ancient people known
as the Philistines. In Latin, the Roman name for the land became
"Palestina". In English, it became Palestine, thanks to the Romans.
Before 1948, anyone who lived on that land was a Palestinian,
including the Jews. There were Palestinian Jews, and Palestinian
Arabs. Sometime after 1948, the Egyptian Yasser Arafat decided
to adopt the name "Palestinian" as a made-up name for people
who were actually Syrian, Egyptian, and Jordanian Arabs.

From 1948 to 1967, the "Palestinian" territories were controlled
by Jordan and Egypt. They had every opportunity to have their
own state, but for some reason they preferred to keep those
people in their status of non-statehood. After Israel thwarted
another attempt to eliminate them in 1967, Israel took over
the "Palestinian" territories.

Then again in 1973, Israel was attacked one more time before
Anwar Sadat of Egypt came to the conclusion that Israel could
not be defeated, and made peace with Israel. At that time, Israel
gave back some of the land it had taken in previous wars that
were started by the Arab countries, but Egypt did not want Gaza
back. They told Israel to keep it, it was now their problem.

In 2006, Israel turned Gaza over to the Palestinian people, who
immediately elected Hamas. Developers offered to turn Gaza
into a tourist paradise with their 25 miles of beautiful beaches,
and what did Hamas do? They took the international money that
was pouring in to Gaza and built all the tunnels they use for their
terrorist purposes. They don't care about the Palestinian people,
they only care about eradicating Israel.

You mean the Antichrist's kingdom, and apparently you think
the leaders of Israel will produce the Antichrist?

The Bible's prophecies are all centered on Israel. The only
other nations mentioned in Bible prophecy have to do with
some association with Israel, whether as friend or foe of
Israel.

Without the context of history, what is happening today makes
no sense -- which is why so many people are deceived. If you
disagree with any of the historical context I have provided, I
welcome your correction (if you can prove I am wrong).

I'm open to discussion. When I first started posting here, all
I ever wanted to do was have calm and friendly discussions.
Unfortunately, I encountered some people here who thought
it should all be about flame wars and personal attacks. The
good news is that Google will be shutting down their Usenet
service in a month and a half, and some of the troublemakers
will be gone.

And I intend to continue posting here, and I plan to give my
interpretation of the Bible's End Times prophecies. I hope
you will continue to post and we can have an ongoing discussion.

Interesting that neither the Jews nor Hamas accept the Gospel
of Jesus as their doctrine, so I'm not sure what your point is in
saying it's relevant to the present discussion. Could you explain
it further, please?

I can't see the article, it's asking me to subscribe and I really
have no desire to do that. If you have a specific point you'd
like to make, please do that and I will respond.

The presumptions are that the scripture is true, the NT is scripture and
is therefore relevant to everyone including the Jews and Hamas and
non-Christians and demons. Jesus was sent to the Jews, the Gospel
informs us that Jesus is the means of redemption of the world and for
reconciliation with God, for salvation. I find Girards interpretaion of
the Gospel gives a possible explanation of how the atonement-sacrifice
was abolished at the cross. Perhaps you could just text-search the pdf
for "Girard" and read those sections to get a gist of the theology, and
eschatology.

If understood the way I do, it would serve to explain the present cycle
of violence as being a continuing "scapegoat mechanism" employed in
retaining the present control for the kingdom of the antichrist rather
anything else.

Sorry about the inconvenience. I checked the first url from a US ip, and
it was accessible if you have javascript off (maybe try "readermode"), I
did verify mp3 (after redirects) should also be downloadable without a
browser (though I didnt download it or hear it)

The first part deals with the definition of right-wing populism from one
of the two panelist

BEGIN_QUOTE
Let us start with a basic question. How would you define right-wing populism?

Irfan Nooruddin: Populism is generally thought of as a political phenomenon in which a
voice of the people begins to argue that they are being kept out of power by some
elite forces or some non-representative, non-legitimate forces in society. There is
scepticism about democratic institutions as a way in which the people’s voice can be
heard. And so you have actors, either individual politicians or political parties,
saying that we are the true representative of the people and that our voice has been
denied in politics because of some shadowy cabal, the elites, and international
forces. What they are striking at is the legitimacy of the liberal, democratic process
in which elections lead to certain winners.

The distinction between left-wing and right-wing populism lies at the roots of the
de-legitimisation of the system. Left-wing populists would argue that the masses, the
general public, the working class were not being allowed to influence public policy
because the rich, the political elites, dominated by capitalist interests, were
exerting undue influence on the system. The right-wing version of this can often sound
quite similar. If you listen to Trumpian rhetoric, for instance, there is a hint of
this. But the right-wing version in the world now also asks a powerful question, which
is whether the liberal, democratic project of inclusion is legitimate. The targets
here are racial, religious minorities in society. There is a suggestion that these
groups are not true, loyal citizens and so their voices are illegitimate. A mix of
economic appeals with identity appeals combines to form the version of right-wing
populism we see today. But the distinction between right wing and left wing is less
meaningful today than the focus on the anti-democratic nature of
populism

I agree with that, but the Jews and Hamas do not.

I actually read quite a bit of the pdf you provided.

Violence is part of mankind's free will, certainly spurred on and
encouraged by Satan. I believe the Gospel of Jesus has had a
positive effect on mankind where it is accepted, leading to less
violent behavior among those who follow Jesus and practice
his teachings.

There is evidence of that point all over the world, as societies
that largely accept the Gospel of Jesus are more likely to have
freedom and democracy within their governing systems, while
those societies that reject the Gospel are more likely to have
dictators and tyrannical rule as their governing systems.

And though both the Jews and Hamas do not accept the Gospel
of Jesus, the Jews do have the Old Testament, from which Jesus
often quoted to support His teachings. In the OT, God taught His
followers to love their neighbor. Meanwhile, Hamas follows a
doctrine that teaches, "O ye who believe! take not the Jews and
the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. And
whoso among you takes them for friends is indeed one of them.
Verily, Allah guides not the unjust people." Quran 5:52

I find it extremely interesting that one side is taught to love their
neighbor, while the other is taught to distrust their neighbor and
do not take them as friends.
I disagree with that assessment, since Trump's presidency was
actually a positive for minorities. The lowest rate of unemployment
among minorites ever recorded happened during Trump's presidency,
and a lot of minority people have noticed. Trump's polling shows he
has increased his support among minority voters since 2020, and
in that year he had already increased his support among minorities
over what he received in 2016.

It's propaganda of the left that Trump is anti-minority or anti-minority
religion. His presidency was good for all people of all races and
religions. But with the propaganda media on their side, the left have
convinced a lot of people of the lies they spread about Trump.

The anti-democratic effort is all coming from the people the article
says do not exist. But they do exist, in the form of Democratic Party-
appointed judges on the Supreme Court of Colorado, and of the
Democratic Party-appointed Secretary of State of Maine. They have
ruled that Trump cannot appear on the ballot because they have
decided Trump committed a crime for which he has never been
charged, never mind that he hasn't been convicted of ANY criminal
charge.

It is entirely anti-democratic that those Democratic Party acivists
think they are saving democracy by destroying it -- by taking away
the rights of voters in their states to vote for the candidate of their
choice -- just like the banana republic they have turned us into.

There are elements of the same propgada (self-evident to me through
similar internal contradictions) in the narrative you are sticking to
other post (I read it but I didn't respond -- (it is a fine account like
the recap of ot history that stephen gave before his stoning), of course
it is unimpeachable, I didn't see anything I hand't read several times
before) but it suffers from defects (similar to the populism piece)
because it is meddled with by same forces that handle this other
propaganda.

I really would like an example of a defect, please.

I believe everything I have said is true and accurate, but I understand
that you disagree. So please give an example, I don't need them all,
just one example of a contradiction and one example of a defect in
what I am saying. Thank you, and Happy New Year to you.

Sorry, I'm not going to touch that post. I anticipated it and
explicitly said upfront that I wouldn't touch it with it even before you
posted it. I had felt compelled to point out that your claim on
Israel/China was not consistent from a Revelation point of view, and my
responsibility ended there.

I made not claim on Israel/China from a Revelation point of view.
My mention of China was to ask why all the anti-Israel people who
claim to be so humanitarian are not concerned with what China is
doing to its Uyghur Muslim population. You did give an answer to
that question several days ago, but I don't believe the answer you
gave is the actual reason why so many people are so focused on
Israel, while they ignore what China is doing.

In other words, they are not really humanitarians, and they don't
really care about the people they pretend to be caring about. If
they really did care about people, they would also care about the
Uyghur Muslims. But they don't care about those people, and I
believe the correct answer to my question is because the people
who pretend to care about the people of Gaza are just simply
haters of Jews.

As always, I'm open to being corrected if you can show me with
some facts why I'm wrong, and give me a plausible reason why
so many people who are protesting against Israel are silent about
China's mistreatment of Uyghur Muslims.
