The 500 non-geographic NPA exists. Post your query to
comp.dcom.telecom or browse recent (last 2 months) posts via google
groups. Regulars on c.d.t. know about this stuff.

I am under the impression that your number can be transferred to any
service you choose. As it was settled that phone companies do not own
the numbers.
