Republican lawmakers proposed a new bill that would hand down
up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine to offenders caught
using tracking systems like Apple's AirTags and spyware to
follow victims without their consent.
Device stalking is currently a second degree misdemeanor, which
sees a sentence of up to 60 days in jail, six months probation
and a fine of $500.
The Florida Judiciary Committee passed the bill on Monday in
a 9-0 vote, but it still needs to go through the Senate Rules
Committee before making its way to the House and Senate.
. . .
WAY TO GO !!!
Oh yea ... does this apply to COMMERCIAL ENTITIES like
Goog and dozens of others ??? No well-explained approved
consent form = CRIME ???
Forbidding denial-of-service if you do NOT approve
should also be illegal.
Oh, that'd include GPS systems in automobiles.
It's NOBODY'S FUCKIN' BUSINESS where you are down to
the square meter and minute unless you explicitly
approve ("I've fallen and can't get up" types of
services for example). 911 would be exempt of course.
Hopefully ALL (though don't count on Wokie) states
will immediately follow suit.
I'd rec a FEDERAL law in the same spirit as the
Florida law. Ron may not be the next POTUS but
he DOES have useful lessons to teach.
