If there's anyone here still willing to 'talk' to me, I'd like to know
if you can determine my IP address simply by virtue of me posting a
message here on this newsgroup.

Answers will be appreciated.

Well look through your header and see if you can determine if you can
see it. Your header follows;

Thank you, 'Bit Twister'

Personally, I can see *no* IP address in standard form. However .....

You will note that 'Peter Foldes' says he *can* determine same from the
X-Trace - but, is he telling the truth?

Cross-posted to 24hoursupport.helpdesk to reach additional expertise.

What is known:

- news.btinternet.com = europe.isp.giganews.com; that is giga 'NSPs'
for BT
- abuse is at ab...@bt.com
- PF lies a lot to BD who believes him a lot/excessively

What is knowable (by btinternet and giganews and unknown others):

- the (exact nature of the) 'relationship' between btinternet.com and
giganews NSPs for handling bt abuse issues
- whether/which giga or bt 'enforces' abuse by bt clients on the giga
news server for BT - most likely it is giga
- (whoever is) the abuse enforcer (bt/giga) can decode/decrypt the
Xtrace into user/pass/IP/MID for id/ing abuse

Most likely conclusion/s:

- PF has pulled BD's chain yet again
- PF (already) knows a BD IP from other 'historical' information
elsewhere, just like we know PF's IP from other historical information,
not his current aioe headers

Hi. What you said is correct in a way but when you have access to the right
equipment and connections to it for using it, then it is easy to backtrack the
originator.
I thought something happened to you because you disappeared all of a sudden for a
while. I hope it is not your health

Two friends and I took an 800 mi/1200 km auto trip from southernmost
coastal California to Reno, Nevada north of Lake Tahoe with one night
layover near Santa Barbara, CA and one night stay in Reno for me.

One of the friends left from there to go camping at Cherry Lake in
Yosemite National Park for about 2 weeks, while the other is still in
Reno for a few days for the annual Reno Air Races.

There were about 3 days or so that I wasn't online - there was a lot of
nice scenery to drive thru' instead.

I've settled on this one now when posting directly to Usenet!

Jealous a bit. :-) It must have been enjoyable and educational. Great stuff.

Sorry but I thought something happened to you. Force a habit when on the Usenet a
continuous contributor disappears after a 2 week absence.

Maybe you'll now explain why *you* have access to "the right equipment"
as well as having a T3 connection to the Internet.

I'm sure many others will be 'all ears'!
