Is there a problem with using the same M2N Gateway, if your nym was created
from the same nym server? For example, if one has a nym created at
mixmin.net, is one risking exposure by sending a post through
mail...@mixmin.net using the mixmin.net created nym?

Up to no good, ah? If you used several remailers to setup your nym,
and have your messages coming to you thru several remailers (3 min),
there should be no problem using the m2n that contains your nym.

No, there is no problem here. Because of the way nymservers work,
the only thing that they know about you (assuming that you come in
through the mixmaster network) is that you are the person that
controls the private key for your nym.

In the case of the M2N gateway, there is even less of an issue, since
that is not anonymous, and has no access to additional information
beyond that which is in the usenet posting, which is public.

From the point of view of reliability, using the nymserver-M2N
combination may even be considered to be preferable.

A related question, which you might have raised, is what the
implications are of using a mixmaster exit node which is on a system
shared by the nymserver. Here again there is no problem, and in this
case there is a benefit.

The analysis goes as follows. Your message to the nymserver is
encrypted by mixmaster up to the exit node. It then travels in the
clear to the nymserver, and as such, is exposed to inspection
by an eavesdropper. By using an exit node shared with the nymserver,
you mitigate that weakness.

nymtst thanks for the thorough explanation to my question. Contrary to the
previous poster who thought I'm "Up to no good, ah", No that's not the case.
There are still a few role models for their kids walking this planet. I
consider myself a member of that club.
