I've been making changes to the configuration of the remailer to get it in
line with hascash, keeping the remailer as effective as possible.
It looks like the present setup will be it for awhile.
With or without hascash, all last-hop messages will be written from the
remailer to one or more mail2news gateways - no nntp, no encrypting to
another remailer.
Without hashcash, there will be a disclaimer on all last-hop messages, and
a forced From header. With hashcash there will be no disclaimer on news
posts and whatever header the user chooses will be used.
For newsanon posts, a disclaimer will always be present, since I haven't
yet been able to integrate it with hashcash - it's an email message and
hashcash doesn't deal with those, apparently.
When I can re-jigger the newsanon posts into anon-post-to messages, then
hashcash will apply and they will be treated like regular news posts.

The Eelbash remailer is a last-hop remailer.
If someone is using the remailer to send unwelcome messages to your
email address, send a message to rema...@eelbash.yi.org, with
'dest-block' (no quotes) as the subject.
A confirmation email will be sent to you, and, when you reply, your
address will be blocked from receiving messages via the remailer.
KEYS
To get the eelbash remailer keys, send an email to
rema...@eelbash.yi.org, with remailer-key as the subject.
HASHCASH
Posts without a valid hashcash token will contain a disclaimer and
will have a forced From header. Messages to alt.privacy.anon-server
will be deleted.
Posts with a valid hashcash token will not have a disclaimer and
the user may use any From header he wants. Messages to
alt.privacy.anon-server will be delivered.
Posts to alt.anonymous.messages do NOT need a token.
All posts, with or without hashcash, are sent from the remailer to
one or more mail2news gateways.
The maximum message size that will be delivered to usenet is 30kb,
messages exceeding this size limit are silently dropped.
The token has to be minted (created) to the following requirements:
Bits: 27
Resource: eelbash
Validity: 60 days
Minting one token will take approx. 2 min on a P3 600. You will need one
token for each posting.
You mint the token (a sequence of characters) with the hashcash minting
program, and include it in your posting as a header:
From: whoever
References: whatever

A *very* easy way to setup a nym is available. Send an email
to rema...@eelbash.yi.org with eelnym-info as the
subject for instructions on how to set it up and use it.
NEWSANON
The 'newsanon' quickpost is a way to post a news message
or reply to a newspost that is very easy and does not
require encryption.
It is not fully anonymous, but will remove your IP and
other identifying information from the post that arrives
at the newsgrouop.
Send an email to rema...@eelbash.yi.org with newsanon-info
as the subject, for instructions on how to use it.
At present, the newsanon utility is not scanned for hashcash,
so it always has a disclaimer at the top of the message.
When I can get it integrated with hashcash, the disclaimer
will disappear if a hashcash token is included with the
message.
BLOCKING
The Eelbash remailer blocks newsgroups only as a last resort,
and even then gives users the option to continue posting to
the group anonymously by using a key. The block is temporary.
