We'd get these things WAY before video games.
However I'd tend to cast the blame on the general
push for an amoral/sociopathic/self-centered
mindset since the early 60s and especially
since the 70s. This is mostly the left at work.
To further their agendas they had to tear down
the cultural and religious foundations of the
established societies - which, unfortunately,
included the "do not massacre everybody over
trivia" thing. The MSM hasn't been a help either,
publicizing, glorifying, the nutters. This is
not entirely NEW though - look up "penny dreadful".
In short, we've helped create our own versions
of the bomb-vest jihadists.
