Republican Party of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S.
territory in the western Pacific Ocean with only 85,000 residents.
The CNMI has zero electoral votes, zero votes in Congress, and most Americans
don�t even know it is part of the country. Spending money there serves no
strategic purpose whatsoever.
But the 184 square mile territory did help Steele win the chairmanship last
year, which means the money is likely more a payoff for the islands� support
than an investment in winning elections.
