Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelenskyy signed off on
"ambitious" security deal Friday with French President
Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

The deal will last for 10 years and includes a French
promise of up to €3 billion ($3.2 billion) in aid for 2024.

Also on Friday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Zelenskyy
signed a bilateral security agreement valued at €1.1 billion
($1.18 billion) to help in the fight against Russia's invasion.

. . .

Hmmmm ... while overt US funding is currently tied-up
due to politics, I wonder if the US can still fund
Ukraine kinda INdirectly - from another purse - via aid
to proxies like France and Germany and others ?

Unfortunately, politics can go on forever, but the
Ukrainian military cannot - supplies run out and
then Putin gets his horrible way.

Biden is using a little known executive prerogative to get weapons to Ukraine. The
President is empowered to declare certain munitions obsolete and donate/sell them to
another NATO nation for a price he determines, including zero dollars.

In this case, he's sending such weapons to Greece, gratis and the Greeks will give their
old Soviet weapons to Ukraine.

Because the Republiscums/QAnon in Congress refuse to provided the necessary
resources to do it.

Closing the border is easy with the current "resources" ... people are
being "helped" in ... just close the holes and have only the legitimate
borders open ... only people with documents can get in. Easy and does
not cost much at all. State national guards are ready and willing to
help. Even New York.

In another turn of events, NATO and EU states are giving Ukraine weapons out of their
stockpiles, then buying replacements from us. The EU has passed a guaranteed 54B euro
Ukraine aid guarantee.

Compare figures. Joe is much Much MUCH worse.

STILL wonder if this isn't related to the growing demographic
situation in the USA though - not enough 'native' babies to
become workers and TAXPAYERS. The Dem plan may not be to import
more future Dems (actually the 'hispanics' from down south are
a pretty conservative/Christian lot by and large) but to bring
in more workers. "Uncontrollable immigration surge" is a way
to do it without making it look deliberate.

Close the border is being used as a turn of phrase to mean secure the border. However by executive
order, Biden can approve the border bill and yes, he also has the power to actually close the
border.

Bottom line that you keep avoiding is that the border was secure under Trump.
Biden rescinded the Trump policies and like magic the endless flow of illegal migrants started.
And you already know the list as it's been posted previously many times.

Bottom, bottom line, had Biden simply left things alone we would not be in this mess. But like
everything King Midas In Reverse touches, this one has also turned to shit.

And no amount of spin from the WH trying to blame it on the republicans is going to work because
like watching Biden fumble, mumble and fall, the people can see for themselves.

One of the many things people can see for themselves is that congress
worked months to create a bill that would give more funding for the
border issues and then Trump told his minions to axe it because he
didn't want Biden to get a "win." That's Trump in a nutshell.

Wrong.
The border crisis started under Biden and people know this.
All it takes is a little digging to discover that the democrat bill allows for 5k migrants per day.
And yes it is buried in rhetoric with conditions but take a look how the left wing media is
attempting to spin this.

Again, for the 100th time, all Biden has to do is restore the Trump
policies which were working.
Why is the left opposed to this?

Ooooooh! Magic Democrats!

>Bottom, bottom line, had Biden simply left things alone we would not be in this mess.

You enjoy thinking so but you're deluding yourself.

Why was the flow less under Trump? Because the unemployment rate climbed to 13%

Why has the flow increased under Biden? Because unemployment is down to nearly 13 and a
half %.

Get this through your thick skull, please.

Migrant numbers are tied directly to employment rates. As unemployment goes down, migrant
numbers go up.

Now, explain why there were so few border crossers under Obama and why his deportation
numbers were twice Trump's?

>But like
>everything King Midas In Reverse touches, this one has also turned to shit.

Meanwhile, the GOP's business donors are giving money to the Democrats precisely *because*
they're letting in the cheap labor force business depends on. Ask Lara why so many state
parties are out of cash or bankrupt. The donors have closed their checkbooks because they
don't like MAGAs, and they don't like what Republicans are threatening to do about
immigration.

>And no amount of spin from the WH trying to blame it on the republicans is going to work because
>like watching Biden fumble, mumble and fall, the people can see for themselves.

And they also see the Republicans refusing to address the issue. They also know that if
they're put in power they STILL won't do anything about it.

Why didn't they fix it in the first six years of Bush's Presidency?

Why didn't they do something about it when they had both houses under Clinton? Under
Obama? For that matter, why didn't your team do something about it during Trump's first
two years when the GOP held EVERYTHING?

REPUBLICANS DON'T WANT TO FIX THE BORDER and they won't, even if they sweep
Washington in November.

They've had many, many opportunities to fix it over the past half century and they've
blown it every, single time!

I'm done watching the GOP fuck up illegal immigration. Time to give the Dems a chance to
fix it.

What a crock of shit! The "border crisis" started in the nineteen fifties and has been
going on ever since. Washington has addressed the border only once since Eisenhower left.
That was in 1986 when Reagan granted blanket amnesty to millions of them and the
Republicans' immigration bill invited more millions to come in.

>All it takes is a little digging to discover that the democrat bill allows for 5k migrants per day.
>And yes it is buried in rhetoric with conditions but take a look how the left wing media is
>attempting to spin this.

As opposed to how right wing media is trying to spin it?

It's a BILL. Debate it. Get a BETTER BILL written, then PASS IT.

>Again, for the 100th time, all Biden has to do is restore the Trump
>policies which were working.

That's a political lie. No amount of talk from Washington is going to stop them from
coming in. Another five thousand are on their way from Panama as we speak.

>Why is the left opposed to this?

They aren't. The left is onboard to pass a comprehensive bill. They're also on board to
provide more resources to CBP.

Why aren't the Republicans willing to do both?

Thanks for posting this. It's amazing how many of the Fox viewers are
either totally unaware of history, or they believe the Fox alternate

bipartisan effort recently to at least put a bandaid on this and then
Trump shot it down to keep Biden from getting a "win" they would be

Because they have no intention of working.
At least not on the books.
Many actually do better on the welfare roles than actually working at an entry level job and that
is a system that is broke and needs to get fixed.

I looked at the first three. The first one showed one migrant — a small child —
being helped through the last bit of barbed wire. The person helping the child
was...wait for it...a Texas National Guardsman <chortle>.

The second and third ones did not show any migrants being helped through the
barbed wire.

None of the three showed "crowds" [sic] as you put it above.

New York wants lots of money to give them that welfare.

So, all those illegals asking and getting to go to NYC are just going

This summary is right on the nose. If Republicans genuinely wanted to
stop the flow, they would support penalties for companies (like Trump's)
who hire people here without work permits.

Since the majority of such people fly here and overstay their visas,
that would be far more effective than a stunningly expensive wall that
does nothing about the coasts or the other border and remains a hugely
expensive maintenance problem that is still defeatable with ropes and
ladders and digging.

they KNEW were lies. The last straw, and the reason I stopped watching Fox, was when Bill

began picketing Faux. The backlash became loud enough that O'Reilly backtracked a bit
saying that while there were a few homeless vets, the problem wasn't serious. The VA had
been preparing a report and released it within days of this putting the number north of a
quarter million and noting that substance abuse and suicide rates among veterans were very
high as well.

Most of us will remember the VA scandals that broke out during Bush's Presidency. The
Walter Reed scandal was as disgusting an expose of government failure as there ever has
been yet Fox continued to downplay it.

If we need to do something Republicans don't want to do, say, secure the border or pass

But when they want to pass trillion dollar tax breaks for the investor class - hold onto

It's FACT. Embarrassed by the truth? You should be. The border has been a problem since
Eisenhower. Tell us when the GOP fixed it and then explain how they did it so effectively
that there's been no illegal immigration since.

Tell us what border legislation the GOP passed between 1995 and 2001. Between 2003 and
2007.

How about between 2015 and 2017?

Explain that I'm wrong because Trump and the GOP dealt with it between 2017 and 2019.

Tell us how Reagan's 1986 bill fixed the problem forever.

"Why were the employer restrictions so ineffective?

"During the debate in Congress, the bill's sponsors ended up watering down the sanctions
on employers to attract support from the business community, explains Wayne Cornelius of
the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies at U.C. San Diego. "The end result was that
they essentially gutted the employer sanctions," he says."
<https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2013/01/30/in-1986-congress-tried-to-solve-immigration-why-didnt-it-work/>

Have I not said often that the US chamber of commerce and other business interests caused
the Republicans to dump the employer sanctions? What the hell good does it do to tell
business to not hire illegals if there aren't any penalties for doing it?

We need heavy fines and prison time for employers who hire these wetbacks. If they want
to import cheap labor, let it be legally done.

As a veteran, I am not at all happy with the way the USA treats veterans
... but the problems have never stopped in ... well forever that I know
of. It is not a Democrat problem and it is not a Republican problem,
but it is a problem.

Fox News is biased strongly to the right ... whatever that means.
Unfortunately, there is not really another news source that is equal to
Fox. Most if not all of the available news media is biased to the left
with MSNBC the worst. It is not the lies ... it is the selection of
what to broadcast and how it is edited or praised or condemned. Bending
the truth is not that difficult in our current state of affairs.

I agree, Fox News is guilty. I do not agree that the others are free
from bias. Again, your mileage may vary.

Too much generalization ... those tax increases and those tax benefits
are supported by all sides of the aisle. The various compromises differ
from time to time, but nothing gets through without a lot of
compromises. It has been going on for a long long time and it will not

Further, Republicans in the House are refusing to consider any bipartisan effort at
resolution because Trump needs it as a campaign issue. This is common knowledge and has
been admitted by Congress Critters on both sides of the aisle.

" Senior Senate Republicans are furious that Donald Trump may have killed an emerging
bipartisan deal over the southern border, depriving them of a key legislative achievement
on a pressing national priority and offering a preview of what’s to come with Trump as
their likely presidential nominee.

"In recent weeks, Trump has been lobbying Republicans both in private conversations and in
public statements on social media to oppose the border compromise being delicately hashed
out in the Senate, according to GOP sources familiar with the conversations – in part
because he wants to campaign on the issue this November and doesn’t want President Joe
Biden to score a victory in an area where he is politically vulnerable. "
https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/25/politics/gop-senators-angry-trump-immigration-deal/index.html

"'Immoral': Some Republicans rebuke efforts to kill immigration deal to help Trump
The fight over an emerging border and foreign aid bill grew tense Thursday as the GOP
split over whether to sink the deal to boost Donald Trump's presidential campaign."
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/immoral-republicans-rebuke-efforts-kill-immigration-deal-help-trump-rcna135732

"Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., urged his colleagues not to make it all about politics at the
behest of another candidate.

“I didn’t come here to have the president as a boss or a candidate as a boss. I came here
to pass good, solid policy," Tillis said. “It is immoral for me to think you looked the
other way because you think this is the linchpin for President Trump to win.”"

“I want a negotiation that will actually secure the border, where they can’t weasel out of
it, they can’t drive a semi-truck through loopholes that are created in it,” Sen. Ron
Johnson, R-Wis., told reporters.

But isn't that exactly what Republicans did in 1986 when they removed employer sanctions
for hiring illegals?

The GOP is refusing to consider any border solution for one reason only. Handing such a
victory to Biden would cripple Trump's campaign.

The Democrats have shown before they know how to take Republicans' core issues away and
neutralize them.

I don't care about bias. I can read through bias. What is harder to deal with is
outright lies. Such are common on Fox, less so in left and centrist media. They all have
their bias, but Fox is alone in its tendency to deliberately lie for profit.

Governor Swill

Then you still don't understand my view. This overwhelming influx is only overwhelming
because we have utterly failed to maintain immigration in a way that reflects the
realities of modern life because Congress has refused to appropriate resources and pass
legislation to do so. When the Dems are in power, the Republicans put a halt to any
attempts by the Dems to resolve it because they don't want them to get credit for fixing
it. When the GOP is in power, they won't do anything to resolve it because they don't
want it resolved.

As for 'the lie', John Doe and I made statements about the border issue and you seemed to
question their veracity. I have now successfully cited my statements.

We can't just wave our hands or pass a law and the whole problem goes away. We're going
to need discussion and resources. We can't deport them if it takes a year to get a date
for deportation. We can't process asylees if it takes a year to get a hearing.

Like it or not we are a nation of laws. If you don't like the laws, pressure your reps to
change them. Don't just break them.

Stewart's "Moment of zen" was Putin complaining that Tucker didn't ask him any of the
"hard questions".

I have repeatedly cited sources for this in various posts on the subject. Basically, a
bipartisan attempt was made to get control of the border. Trump told the House caucus to
defeat any attempt to do so because he wants the issue to campaign on.

This is disingenuous at least, and it is fact.

The Democrats were willing to appropriate funds for the back end of border processing,
funds for the border itself and are in support of developing a more comprehensive package
such as the one the Republicans just shot down.

These also are facts.

Now in those two paragraphs, what did I say that was not accurate? And please, don't
dodge answering this time.

I said no such thing and you're trying to doge the question again.

Tell us how you're going to pay the border guards and processing clerks if not with money?

Canada isn't populous enough to absorb them. The vast majority of Canadians live within
fifty miles of the US border. The vastness of the interior is largely uninhabited and
frozen much, if not most of the year. Canada only accepts folks with money and specific
skills they're looking for. Canada has only recently had to deal with the low birth rates
so common today. With the fading of oil income and the population reduction they'll be
experiencing, expect them to change their immigration requirements.

Why are you fixated on the migrants who were shipped to New York?

Well said. The GOP reveals its racism by fixating on the brown illegals crossing the
southern border. They completely disregard the majority of illegals, visa overstayers.
