Ambulances will stop responding to 999 calls by August 17,
the nursing director of one ambulance service has warned,
as the trust faces a “Titanic moment”.

Mark Docherty, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said
patients were “dying every day” from avoidable causes
created by ambulance delays and that he could not understand
why NHS England and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) were
“not all over” the issue.

In an interview with the Health Service Journal (HSJ),
Mr Docherty said rising numbers of people were waiting in
the back of ambulances for 24 hours before being admitted
to hospital, and that serious incidents have quadrupled
in the past year, largely due to severe delays.

. . .

Ah ... the utopian miracle of socialized medicine ........

It means lying in a pool of blood waiting for an ambulance
that's never coming. It means yer kid choking to death
on the hospital doorstep because they won't let her in.
It mean slowly rotting away from disease because the
docs don't have time for you - "see us in 6 months ..."

The situation in the UK was awful before Covid, and Covid
totally broke it. There's not enough money anymore, not
enough will, not enough organizational savvy. Grandpa
built it, gen-Y/Z let it slide into the sewer.

And no, it's not all that great outside the UK either.
China's "Shanghai Solution" for Covid was to basically
nail the population into their little apartments and
hope they all starved to death.

Yes, in the USA you do have to pay more for health care,
but you also tend to get what you pay for. The staff
at the docs, the hospital, tends to be cheerful and
sensitive - unlike the burnt-out drudges and dirt-cheap
foreign "medical people" they imported in socialized
systems. Got a problem, medics and an ambulance will be
there in minutes and take you right through the ER door -
no "take a (long) number" bullshit. Need meds, get meds ...
and if you're too poor they have work-arounds or the
charity groups will pick up some of the tab.

In short, our system can seem awful sometimes - UNTIL you
start comparing experiences elsewhere. Oh well Brits,
simple solution, just don't get sick .......

"Oooh ! Everything ought to just be FREE !" ... that's
how 5-year-olds think. Grown-ups are SUPPOSED to grasp
why that never works.
