Another NFL Team Says No to Michael Vick

Another team turned down the opportunity to sign reinstated NFL
quarterback Michael Vick.
Washington Redskins coach Jim Zorn told the media his team wouldn't
sign Vick "at this juncture."
Zorn says he wishes Vick the best and is sure the former Atlanta
Falcons quarterback will return to the NFL.
The Redskins join a long list of teams � including the New York
Giants, Jets and Dallas Cowboys � that have said they don't want Vick
after he served 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting
ring.
He was released from home confinement July 20 and conditionally
reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday, after an
indefinite suspension that began in August 2007.
Sports columnists across the globe have weighed in on where Vick
should, or could, land. The New England Patriots are at the top of
their list.
FOX Sports' John Czarnecki writes that Vick needs a solid team as much
as any team may need him. He predicted the Patriots coach could be
just the ticket.
"Bill Belichick would treat Vick like a man and force him to act like
one," Czarnecki says of the Patriots' coach. "The way Belichick
operates the Patriots, Vick would be surrounded by a solid group of
professionals in the locker room."
Vick can immediately participate in preseason practices, workouts and
meetings, and can play in the final two preseason games.
Once the season begins, he is allowed to participate in all team
activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for
full reinstatement by Week 6 � which is from October 18 to 19.

I agree. I've said from the start he'd be back in the league but
perhaps not this year.
I have my reasons.

All you gave me were the teqams that have said they wouldn't sign him.
The Pats have Brady, The Cowgirls have Romo, The Giants have Manning
and the Deadskins and Jets don't have enough money under the cap to
sign him.
There are other factors. Goodell said Vick could play the same week
teams were starting their training camps. That would mean that Vick
would have a little over a month to learn a new system. To become used
to new players, as well. Keep in mind he hasn't played for two
seasons. He has to get back in "game shape" and that's just not enough
time. The only way he could even come close would be to take every rep
with the starters. But even then he wouldn't be accustomed to being
hit. Ever see training camp stories on tv or see pictures of them?
Ever wonder why the qb has a red jersey or vest over his team one?
That's so no one hits him.
Another problem. He's been suspended for at least the first five games
which means a team would have to make sure they have a qb ready for
the start of the season. It means that qb would have to get alot of
first team reps.
Also, you get to week six and your team is 5-0, 4-1, even 3-2 where
the qb wasn't the reason for the losses. You're going to sit that guy
just becasue you're paying Vick big coin?
QB controversy. No coach wants one. It divides the team.
There's just too many factors. Football factors which have absolutley
nothing to do with dog fights.
Whaty Vick could do is sign with the new UFL. They don't start until
Oct. and only play a six game season meaning there would still be
almost a third of the NFL season left.
Or just keep in shape and wait by the phone.
I'm willing to bet you that between now and the end of Week One at
least one NFL team will have lost their qb for the season due to an
injury.
So are you keeping your tickets or not?
If you do we better not see any posts with time stamps that occur
during Buc home games.
