The president, speaking at a town hall meeting in Virginia, says only public

debate.

I'm not sure I understand this. Why is Obama urging the public to demand
health care reform.
Weren't they already demanding it?

WASHINGTON - The drug industry has authorized its lobbyists to spend as much
as $150 million on television commercials supporting President Obama's
health care overhaul, beginning over the August Congressional recess, people
briefed on the plans said Saturday.

Is this the lobbyist influence we should be opposing?
He's encouraging them to make themselves heard over the loud,
ceaseless, endlessly outraged ranting of the Fox-driven minority.
Here's where they made themselves heard (poll not done by Fox)
21. Are you generally satisfied or dissatisfied with the quality of the
health care you receive? Would you say you are very
(satisfied/dissatisfied) or somewhat (satisfied/dissatisfied)?
Very Somewhat Somewhat Very

78% are either Very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with their health care.
I wonder what the poll would look like if they included an equal
representative sample of the 45 million Americans who don't have any.
That's NOT what the public said at the Tea Parties! People who'd
never protested before - white, middle-class, middle-age - came out in
droves to demand no Obamacare.
And the election now is less than a year away - something every House
member, and a third of Senate members, better realize when they watch
those Tea Party videos.

...and without reform?
http://blog.cleveland.com/medical/2009/02/number_of_americans_without_he.html
Number of Americans without health insurance expected to grow by 9
million in next decade
WASHINGTON — Without changes in federal policy, the number of
Americans without health insurance will grow from about 45 million
this year to about 54 million in 2019, the Congressional Budget Office
said today.
(and before you whine about the cite being a blog fucker, the info
comes from the CBO)
You know what? I am between "Somehat Satisfied" and "Very Satisfied"
with my current health care.
And I am fully in favor of health care reform, including a public
option.
Why? Because I am concerned about my neighbors who don't have health
care. (I always thought this was considered a Christian viewpoint, but
apparently I'm wrong. When it comes to politics, Christians in this
country pour their millions of dollars into making sure gays don't get
equal rights, not into making sure that the poor get heath care.)
I think it is good for the country - good for America's security - if
every citizen has adequate health care.
I'm also concerned about the day that might come - as it has already
come for too many Americans - when I might LOSE the health care I am
currently satisfied with, and have nowhere to turn.
And I'm aware of the fact that countries with more givernment
involvement in health care than ours really AREN'T the terrifying
snake pits that the right-wing makes them out to be, with death panels
and the like. Those countries have their problems - just like we do -
but on the whole they pay less for health care than we do and have
better outcomes.
So you're poll doesn't mean anything like you think it does. People
can be satisfied with their current health care (emphasis on THEIR,
and on CURRENT), and still think we need reform.
Because not everybody thinks only about themselves. And because people
are aware that their current circumstances can change.
I demand we draft you for a couple of tours in Afghanistan.
Plus, tell us why private health insurance is superior to a national
health service.
Because the United States Government, not the people, but the Government has
proven time and time again that it can not do anything without overspending,
hyperpoliticizing, and creating huge bloated beauracracies.
In our current private pay system, too many components are missing (such as
competition and price transparency) for it to benefit from forces that would
normally drive down price in any other market based industry. People don't
shop around for the best value in routine health care because they have
relatively low deductable insurance, they just want "the best".
--
In 1965, Medicare was predicted to cost $26 billion by the year 2003; the
actual cost that year was $245 billion. Medicare's unfunded liability
currently hovers around $40 trillion.
Can FedEX or UPS deliver a letter anywhere in the US for what it costs
the Postal Service? Are Blackwater mercenaries paid what US soldiers
are paid? When you drive on a road, remember: there is no Department
of Road Building, it's all private contractors. Etc.
Grow up, b1ackwater, you're just a reichtard liar.
If small government is so superior to our "bloated" system, why aren't
you moving to Somalia? The looneytunarian utopia of small government,
where there is no nation health service, Social Security, Medicare,
OSHA, gun laws, etc. Or any other country with small government??
Make a list of countries, one column big government, one column small
government.
Put a checkmark next to the ones you'd move to if necessary. Bet
they're all "big, bloated" government countries. Odd coincidence,
isn't it?
The fanatical free-marketeers just can't accept the fact that free-
market Capitalism failed completely. Capitalism went broke, and it
went broke under a pro-business Republican president and a generous
central bank. And today, all those brilliant businessmen are looking
to the public to bail them out.
Still, the free-marketeers are so soaked in decades of big-business
propaganda, they refuse to even notice that all the screaming today is
aimed at what "the government" should do to get the nation out of the
mess created by free-market Capitalism.
Well, let's look at the track record of your glorious free-market
private health insurance companies. For the last few years, private
health insurance companies operated under a radically pro-business
Republican administration. Corporate taxes were reduced; interest
rates were cut to the bone, regulations were trimmed, and insurance
companies were exempted from antitrust laws.
The result: premiums ballooned, insurance company profits exploded,
healthcare costs went through the roof, millions of people were shut
out of the system, businesses were strangled, and the economy
squeezed. Projections indicated that left to themselves, the private
insurance firms would be pulling down a larger percentage of the
nation's gross domestic product than the manufacturing sector within a
decade. And you people want to just maintain insurance business as
usual?
Are YOU calling YOUR BUCKWHEAT Presnit a LIAR?
I'm almost sure you took it out of context.
Where's the cite scumbag?
One way is to tax incomes above (say) $1 million and end business tax
deductability for such salaries. End payment in the form of stock
options (these become incentives to play financial games to push stock
prices). Increase business taxes but offset with immediate tax breaks
for investment in plant & equipment.
I think that the computation of GDP includes products and services
sold by overseas subsidaries. Stop adding these to US GNP and/or
export numbers.
Stop including non-productive activities in the calculation of GDP
such as prisons, sports, movies, etc.
End the tax deductability of products and services purchased overseas
for sale or use in the US or by an offshore corporate subsidary.
End all "free trade" agreements, resign from the WTO. Renegotiate
trade agreements, country by country, to allow duties on imports from
said countries to eliminate wage differentials.
Begin a five year program tof increasing taxes on foreign oil imports,
and tax US production too, to fund an energy program to replace crude
oil. A recent article in SciAm suggested the use of nuclear reactors
to generate H2 which would be delivered across the country via
existing natural gas pipelines. The needed reactors could be clustered
in the US southwest and paid for with the energy tax on crude.
Too bad in your mad dash rush to whine and rant you forget to or can't
come up with solutions. But that's the hallmark of the reichtard
looneytunarians.
We already KNOW you're a LIAR...

Obamas Health Care Speech to Congress
September 9, 2009
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/10/us/politics/10obama.text.html
"We are the only advanced democracy on Earth the only wealthy nation
that allows such hardships for millions of its people. There are now
more than thirty million American citizens who cannot get coverage. In
just a two year period, one in every three Americans goes without
health care coverage at some point. And every day, 14,000 Americans
lose their coverage. In other words, it can happen to anyone."
I like where your mind is. I favor business tax cuts in the form of
accelerated depreciation schedules which would allow American
companies to quickly write off as depreciation any American-made
equipment and machinery, maybe even in the first year. We's make up
the shortfall in revenues from the successful American manufacturers.
We still have some manufacturing here in the United States--let's make
their products competitive.
Tax the money changers and who produce nothing and the foreign and
domestic companies who use foreign labor. shift most of the tax
breaks to American companies that use 100 percent American-made
equipment and machinery. That would discourage importing parts and
using foreign labor. Personally, I think that was the key to the
success of the Reagan administration.
Given 15% of the population doesn't have access to basic health care,
this poll really doesn't make any sense, nor does it ask the question
as to whether the public believes health care is affordable which it
isn't and will destroy the competetiveness of US companies who pay for
their employees health care in a global economy where most companies
don't contribute anything because they are in countries with universal
health care which cost 1/2 what Americans pay.
Funny how it worked during WW2. You know, the war that you

Try reading the U.S. Constitution.
http://www.factcheck.org/2009/03/uninsured-us-citizens/
Q: How many of the uninsured are U.S. citizens?
A: The vast majority of the uninsured are citizens from working
families.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=111651742
Contrary to popular belief, most of the uninsured are working
families. They tend to be poorer and in worse health than those with
insurance, according to the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation.
"About 70 percent are from families with one or more full-time
workers," Kaiser says in a report on the uninsured issued late last
year.
And some 40 percent of the uninsured are between the ages of 19 and
29. While there is heated speculation that many of these young people
don't buy insurance because they are healthy and don't want to, the
evidence suggests that they are actually less likely to be able to
afford insurance.
"Young adults have the highest uninsured rate (30 percent) of any age
group. More than half of uninsured young adults are full-time workers,
but their low incomes make it more difficult for them to afford
coverage," according to the Kaiser report.
But not everyone agrees that 46 million is the right number.
A conservative media watchdog, the Media Research Center, accuses the
media of hyping the number of uninsured in order to frighten the
public and "bolster calls for universal government-run insurance
coverage.''
Part of the argument against using the 46 million number is that a few
million of them are likely enrolled in Medicaid but tell the Census
that they are uninsured because they don't have private insurance —
the so-called Medicaid undercount.
Also, almost one in five of the uninsured are not citizens of the
United States. About half of that group — some 5 million or so — are
undocumented. Whether legal immigrants should be included in expanded
coverage is a matter of debate, but none of the plans being considered
by Congress covers illegal immigrants.
__________________________
So to be fair, let's remove undocumented aliens and the healthy young
(even though most of them cannot afford it either) and those eligible
for Medicaid but do not subscribe from these numbers.
I guess that's what Obama did to get his 30 million number which is
still a travesty.
Doesn't change the fact that there are 45 million people in this
country without insurance.
"How many" requests a NUMBER.
"The vast majority" is NOT a number, it is subjected, and unsupported.

choose NOT to buy health insurance.

There is no such thing as "people in this country" that describes any

Ok fucker. For the sake of argument, let's say your numbers are 100%
correct.
That is still way too many Americans without Health Care.
Let's not forget the under insured and millions more who are fully
insured who when they get sick get fucked out of their benefits.
These people are counted an "insured"
It's a complete fucking travesty that needs to be reformed. Period.
What about the 300million that have Medical care and insurance?

I want greedy Insurance monopolies to have real competition.
I want people to actually get the benefits they think they have and
pay for without getting fucked.
I want 2/3rds of ALL bankruptcies, many of whom are people WITH

I want to stop 14,000 American from losing their coverage EVERY DAY.
This legislation effects EVERYONE for the better, not just the
uninsured.
Why do wingnuts defend corporate slime who are out to fuck them for
profit?
Maybe, maybe not. About one-third of them qualify for Medicaid
(and/or SCHIP) and haven't registered. That's not my problem, nor is
it the Federal gov't's problem.
Another one-third can afford healthcare insurance and choose not to
buy it. That's not my problem, nor is it the Federal gov't's problem.
>Let's not forget the under insured
There's no such thing as "under-insured." Anyone in America can buy
as much healthcare insurance as they want.

Millions? Cite?
>These people are counted an "insured"
Correct. But it depends on who is doing the counting.
The Socialists and Communists (and Buckwheat's Crime Syndicate) count
as UNinsured ANYONE who went one month during a yer without healthcare
insurance. Of course this would include EVERYBODY who changed jobs
and went uninsured during any probationary period.
On the OTHER side they count as INsured ANYBODY who had healthcare
insurance for at least one month during the year...
>It's a complete fucking travesty that needs to be reformed. Period.
No, not really.
There are a few problems that need fixing.
But this isn't the big deal the Socialist DemocRATs and Communist
DemocRATs are making it out to be.
They already do.

Do the math, you said those without insurance and that's between 30-45
million, and that leaves 300million that are getting health care.

Then start an insurance company.

Then become a lawyer and represent victims of insurance fraud.

Most are because their job is gone when they get sic and can't work and
pay bills while, illness is treated.
> I want to stop 14,000 American from losing their coverage EVERY DAY.
Since the number of covered people tends to not be growing except for
the unemployment problem.... What you need to fix is the economy to get
people the money to buy the insurance. Attacking and Government take
over of industry after industry is *NOT* going to get people jobs.
> This legislation effects EVERYONE for the better, not just the

How will it help me? I will now have more regulations that say I shall
do this and I shall do that or I shall be fined $5000 and or spend 5
years in prison.

Government is out to F*ck us for taxes.... and power over our lives.
This guy is becoming his own worst enemy. Every time he gives a speech or a "piece
of advice," his ratings plummet even more....AAC
Its pretty obvious he doesn't know how to be a President, and its
pretty obvious his aides and advisors haven't got a clue either... And
this is becoming a problem because 'Hairless' Reid and 'Hairy Legs'
Pelosi are slapping him around like a stepchild.
He needs to go off to Camp David and have a private meeting with some
way-back-then Republicans, like Gerald Ford's aides and advisors. Ford
had NO clue how to be President and didn't even want to be. He got
stuck with the job but he always knew the people didn't elect him so
he largely let the elected Congress set the tone.
If Buckwheat doesn't get a leash on Reid and a muzzle on Pelosi the
DemocRATs are gonna get swept away next year...

Having a little buyers remorse?
When you have "universal healthcare" someone is paying for that benefit. It
is not "free". And the only way it would work is if there is an equal
number of dollars being put into the system, vs. an equal number of dollars
that is being paid for the system. And even that may be feasible, if it was
not for the fact that when the user of the service is not paying for the
service with their own money, the most effective means you have to control
cost is lost. The result of which is a medical inflation rate that is only
adding to the problem of cost, and it certainly is not helping the problem
of cost. It is also a question of freedom and dependency. When the
government pays for your healthcare, they are going to take away some of
your freedoms and they will make you more dependent on them.
LAFF!
I can always count on you to shoot yourself in the face.

If that is what he said, that would be a lie. Anyone can buy health
