The main stream media is not talking about Bush. Coincidence? I
think not. The previous president, George Bush, is the poster child
of Republican idealogy, with his endless series of lies, corruption
and incompetence that managed to destroy not only the entire American
economy, but also the whole world's economy with it. This is how Bush
ruined the American economy...by waging a very expensive and
completely unnecessary war, based on pure lies, which has cost us
almost a trillion dollars..which he not only did not pay for, but he
also instituted huge tax cuts at the same time. Huge tax cuts, more
than half of those tax cuts went to the richest 1% only.

A basic history lesson. In every war, thru out American history, from
the Revolutionary war, to the Vietnam war, to World War 2, taxes were
raised to pay for the war. But not this war, the Iraq war was
completely unpaid for, and worse, Bush cut taxes at the same time.
THIS is the real cause of the huge deficit and astronomical debt that
is burying us alive, a debt that has just so horribly devastated our
financial markets, it is as if a giant tsunami engulfed the whole
planet with it.

And what's worse, the Republicans won't quit, they want more of the
same, they want to still continue the same old Bush policies, with
still more tax cuts for the rich and still more business and financial
deregulation on the very same corporations that have wreaked so much
havoc on the country's economy in the first place. This is what the
Republicans want to do. And if you hear them talk, they're still
after Social Security, deep down inside, they just want to see it
destroyed. They want to create more poverty, and at the same time
they want to get rid of programs to help the poor, such as
Unemployment Insurance. These guys are beyond insane, they're, for
all practical purposes, CRIMINALLY INSANE.

The unfunded war in Iraq, plus the huge tax cuts for the rich is the
real reason for reversing what was a budget surplus at the end of the
Clinton Presidency. The Republicans deliberately set out to eliminate
that surplus and to turn that surplus into what is now a persistent
deficit.

If you listened to the media, especially FOX, you would think that it
was Obama who created this huge deficit and debt, and you would think
that it was Obama (and the Democrats) who gave all those hundreds of
billions of dollars to the corrupt fat cats of Wall Street. The truth
is that it is Bush (and the Republicans) who gave away hundreds of
billions of our tax dollars to enrich their corporate benefactors of
Wall Street. In reality, Obama (and the Democrats) have been trying
to get Wall Street to give back that money, and they've had some
success in doing that.

You people have no shame.

Bubaddy but but Bush!

"It's one of the hidden success stories of the Clinton era. In the great
housing boom of the 1990s, black and Latino homeownership has surged to the
highest level ever recorded."

"All of this suggests that Clinton's efforts to increase minority access to
loans and capital also have spurred this decade's gains. Under Clinton, bank
regulators have breathed the first real life into enforcement of the
Community Reinvestment Act, a 20-year-old statute meant to combat
"redlining" by requiring banks to serve their low-income communities. The
administration also has sent a clear message by stiffening enforcement of
the fair housing and fair lending laws. The bottom line: Between 1993 and
1997, home loans grew by 72% to blacks and by 45% to Latinos, far faster
than the total growth rate.""

"Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac buy mortgages from lenders and bundle them into
securities; that provides lenders the funds to lend more"

"In 1992, Congress mandated that Fannie and Freddie increase their purchases
of mortgages for low-income and medium-income borrowers. Operating under
that requirement, Fannie Mae, in particular, has been aggressive and
creative in stimulating minority gains."

"The two companies are now required to devote 42% of their portfolios to
loans for low- and moderate-income borrowers"

"Although Fannie Mae actually has exceeded its target since 1994, it is
resisting any hike. It argues that a higher target would only produce more
loan defaults by pressuring banks to accept unsafe borrowers."

http://articles.latimes.com/1999/may/31/news/mn-42807

"The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory
overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a
decade ago."

"Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency
would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the
two largest players in the mortgage lending industry."

"McCain Letter Demanded 2006 Action on Fannie and Freddie"

"Sen. John McCain's 2006 demand for regulatory action on Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac could have prevented current financial crisis, as HUMAN EVENTS
learned from the letter shown in full text below."

Unlike Bush and McCain, as senator, Obama did nothing, other than earn the
distinction of becoming the second largest recipient of F&F contributions in
the entire congress, even in his short stint there.

Bill Clinton himself said it best:

"I think the responsibility the Democrats have may rest more in resisting
any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to
put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."

-Bill Clinton

''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any
kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of
Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee.
''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on
these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''
