Russian Duma calls on Lewinski to stop bombings.

resolution to appeal to Monika Lewinsky to change Clinton's mind about
bombing Iraq. The Duma is kind of the Russian equivalent to the US House
of Representatives, only sillier. While this appeal seems idiotic to
Americans, it is easily explained within Russian culture. Apparently, the
Duma sees Lewinsky as Clinton's lover. Historically in Russia,
politicians and leaders married for purely political reasons, and rarely
for love. Therefore it was understandable, and even expected for their
leaders to have lovers. Often the lovers had much more influence over the
decisions of these leaders than their advisors or even their wives. Given
this outlook, it is only natural for the Duma to pass such a resolution.
