We buy aluminium cases for our embedded systems. American design. Made
in China. Not cheap but very good quality. 10+ years we have been buying
these. The yanks have stopped supplying them. Guess where we will go
looking for a replacement. I would guess at 1/3 price. After setting up
all the engineering *again* we won't be going back. Will we. Stupid or
what. Make a world market. Then throw it away.

We live in a Global economy. We buy from many companies in many
countries and those companies buy their parts and materials to make
their components from many other companies in many other countries and
so on. A single component on a motherboard could contain stuff from
across the world. The machinery which makes them can be made from parts
sourced from across the world. The supply chain is so complex cowboy
that what you are saying is meaningless. Everyone everywhere is
competing and supplying stuff and getting a taste. Even the leather in
