I know nothing about this kind of data but you will see, from the full

Many of you reading here will be aware that Dogagent provides a 'squat'
or, in other words, a back-up facility for Annexcafe when Gregory's
servers are down.

Logic tells me that CoyoteV must be utilising the Dogagent server for
some purpose (it is similar for ever day I have checked) in addition to
his other 'duties' running Mainstreet. I'm simply curious about what he
may be up to.

I wonder what reaction there would be if someone were to ask him a
direct question about this on Mainstreet. I'd do so myself but am banned
from posting there!

There is of course the possibility that *this* CoyoteV is not *our*
Mark, but it would be unlikely IMO.

Any thoughts folks?

Dave

Maybe you should have a more open and inquisitive mind!

Have you ever explored the Annexcafe 'Statistics'?

You could start here: http://webrings.annexcafe.com/?Stats&id=95

I couldn't spot Mainstreet in the 'Top 50' which is a little odd as it
is such a busy group. Maybe I simply missed it.

Press a few buttons and click all over - there are lots of links to
explore! Enjoy (and report back with your findings!)

Honestly Dave, I have no interest in what you're talking about. I have
plenty of projects ongoing, and my time spent in a newsgroup is for
entertatinment purposes only.
AC is what it is. People accept that, or they don't, it's their choice.

I must confess that I am just a little surprised that you have no
interest at all in the "free lunch" you enjoy courtesy of Gregory Gooden.

Do you know, I'd *never* been to a Newsgroup until four years ago. I
responded to an unsolicited email from a Kuay Tim 'out of the blue'
inviting me to join folk at User2User. You might well imagine that I was
highly suspicious from the outset.

Without that email, I'm quite sure I'd never have 'discovered' Annexcafe.

How did you first become involved?

Microsoft always hides behind volunteers or so called moderators to
shield the mothership from any accountability. They were more
oppressive than any I've ever seen on any other moderated newsgroup
or web forum. They would kill whole threads if a topic strayed from
the image they wanted to portray. They would even ban people for
simply quoting a slip of the tongue in a reply.

This is mostly true. I had a couple of wenches on my case back then, [Keely

worked up some BS with a MSN friend of hers and axed my ID. I used a

Dave - have you ever been to the Annexcafe User2User group for help with

Have you ever visited www.dogagent.com - hosted in the UK and which
provides a back-up to Annexcafe if the AC servers go down?

Just wondering.

Well, I ask because you seem to be .... lets just say, an 'average' sort
of guy who enjoys this group, doesn't use foul language nor gets upset.
I also believe you've been 'doing it' (posting in newsgroups) for quite
a long time. Exactly what one might reasonably expect from an OK guy!

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I was 'enticed' to the User2User
group by an unsolicited email - I would *never* have 'found' Annexcafe
otherwise. I posted on the U2U group for some weeks early in 2006 but
apparently asked questions which upset some folk. I also investigated
the whole Annex/Annexcafe operation as thoroughly as I could - I'd been
looking into how 'bad guys' operate on the Internet and wondered if any
of these bad guys were using Annex as a cover.

I did raise matters directly with Gregory Gooden (the 'owner') but
instead of him listening to my concerns, as any reasonable business
owner might be expected to do, he dismissed me out of hand. I was then
banned from posting by Roy C, the group moderator. I later appealed to
Ishie and was permitted to post on the UK U2U group - but not the US
one. I asked similar searching questions and - what-do-you-know - all
the big guns from the US group came over to the UK group to fight with me!

So, for a while, I went instead to Scorched-earth using the user name of
'Beady' and quite enjoyed the 'cut and thrust'. However, in spite of A/C
rules, some folk followed me from U2U and tried to make life difficult
for me. Then CoyoteV became irritated (See earlier threads in *this*
group by me - history) and shortly afterwards I was banned from the
whole of AC by Trolli. No reason was given.

If you have the time/inclination I wonder what might happen if you were
to go to the U2U group and ask a simple question like "Why was
BoaterDave banned from posting in this group? Did he uncover some dark
secret?". Could you/would you do that small thing?

I'd be interested to learn what reaction you get! ;)

AnnexCafe
by dawg_lady 31 Aug 2006, 01:40

I dunno if anybody wants to know anything about this place but this post
was there today from Ishie.

Annexcafe needs our help

I'll be opening the new board in a few hours, but wanted to let you guys
see this first. It's now open (Annexcafe.Team.Annex)

Hi all,

Annexcafe is at risk, and it is up to us to pitch in and help get us
past a rocky period. I had hoped to be able to handle the situation
without worrying everyone, but with Gregory having to be away for so
long to be with his very ill mother and her deteriorating condition,
time has begun to run out, and I need as much help as I can get.

The situation is this. Gregory's paying business, Annex Technologies,
Inc, which supports Annexcafe, is losing money, approximately $2,000 a
month. Obviously, Gregory can't continue to cover this loss. Nor could
we at the Cafe. Gregory is working to cut back on expenses, and trying
desperately for us not to be one of his cutbacks. The real solution is
for him to be able to increase his customer base for Annex, and that is
where we come in. WE CAN HELP. We have an incredible pool of talent here
at Annexcafe. What I am hoping we can do is work together to design a
blockbuster ad campaign for Annex Technologies that will boost them into
the black, let us all rest more comfortably and give Gregory the time he
needs to be with his mother. Obviously, we will not spam, but I'm asking
we all pool resources in support of this project, not just to save
ourselves, but to thank Gregory and show him how appreciative we are of
his years of generosity toward us. Part of the delay was that with
Gregory gone mid-effort, I didn't completely understand what Annex Tech
offered that others didn't offer for less money, but Gregory and I had a
long discussion last Thursday, and he really does have something unique
to offer. If we work as a team, I think we can help him sell it. Toward
that goal, I am opening the newsgroup Annexcafe.Team.Annex. The purpose
of this group will be to brainstorm, to share advertising ideas, to post
graphics and web ads, whatever YOU think will help promote Annex. We can
then take these ads and plans to our individual communities, both
virtual and IRL and see what we can do.

Annex Technologies is in the webhosting business. They're shifting to
hosting with Control Panel, for plans starting at $9.95 a month. Clients
can pay on a month-to-month basis (or for 6 months or a year at a
discount), and no contracts are required, so if a client wants to try
out the service, they're only committed for one month. One of the
company's main selling points is service. They are large enough to have
several servers, thus the crash of one server does not mean the client's
resources go offline, but not so large that customer service is
outsourced or designated to call centers. The support staff for Annex
knows the individual clients and possesses a history of any problems the
client has been having, and issues are often answered by Gregory himself.

Annex is particularly good for people or small businesses that want
webpages that load quickly without ads, but have little experience
working with html or are not wonderful with computers, particularly if
they want webpages with complicated functions, such as separate message
boards, mailboxes (with spam and antiviral filters), blogs, webnews, and
photo galleries. Accessing
these features is quite easy, but critically, Annex staff will quite
literally guide a client, step by step, through the creation of anything
that client might be finding difficulty with. One feature I found really
cool was the ability for Annex to have an online store created for a
client, up and running, within a week's time.

Oh, one other cool feature is the "Rescue Service" (think firetrucks and
ambulances). Since most webhosting services come down to a guy with a
server, Annex offers a service where, if you have notification that your
current webhost is about to be shut down, taking your site with it,
Gregory will download all the information from your site, and upload it
to the Annex server.

The current site that best represents them is
http://webhostingannex.com. If there are any links there to development
services, those are being phased out. He's also planning to make some
other updates to the website.

Gregory's got an admitted weakness in the advertising department (though
we adore him!). Considering I'm a total tech dummy, I think it'd be
great to appeal to people who are quite confused by the whole business
of setting up a webpage, and particularly selling stuff online. I have
some rudimentary html skills, but things like setting up customized
photo galleries, message boards, or certainly secure webpages for online
sales is far beyond my capabilities, and I'm hoping to reach my fellow
dum dums. Even the term "web hosting" for many people I've talked to,
including those who'd like to set up websites with galleries of their
vacations and grandchildren and such but don't know how to go about
doing it, is a bit too technical. While I'd love contributions of
art/ads, etc, in the same sense we have for our honored artists but with
a product oriented direction, what I want to *decidedly* avoid, as I
mentioned above, is creating spam. We're rabid about anti-spam here at
the Cafe, and it certainly wouldn't be fair, even with good intent, to
inflict on other servers what we don't allow ourselves.

So you have the description, you have the board, and naturally, we
appreciate any and all help!

The really *good* thing about Usenet is that nothing gets deleted and
when it fades away then Google can delve back and find it! :)

I *like* it here!

Just wondering if Dave ever did do that small thing for me.

Regardless, will you, *please*, advise where Mark's new group may now be

ROFLMAO. You are such an ignoramus David that you should be included in the Ripley's

You can say anything you like but when you asked that question you were dead serious
