Ron Paul Shunned In Blatantly Unfair MSNBC Debate
Congressman given less than a third of the time afforded to Romney, half the
questions

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Friday, January 25, 2008

According to those that recorded the time afforded to each Republican
candidate during last night's MSNBC debate in Florida, Congressman Ron Paul
was again given the least coverage, being allowed to talk for less than a
third of the time and receiving less than half the questions compared with
Mitt Romney.

Here are the final speaking times as compiled by The ConnieTalk blog.

Romney: 21 minutes, 11 seconds (12 answers and asked 1 question)
McCain: 16 minutes even (12 answers and asked 1 question)
Giuliani: 13 minutes and 50 seconds (10 answers and asked 1 question)
Huckabee: 12 minutes and 11 seconds (8 answers and asked 1 question)
Paul: 6 minutes and 31 seconds (5 answers and asked 1 question)

Establishment candidates were lavished with time and allowed to ask each other
more questions uninterrupted while Paul was shunned and marginalized, despite
the fact that he has clocked up back to back silver medals in both the Nevada
and Louisiana caucuses.

It was symptomatic of the way the establishment media has treated Paul since
his presidential campaign began, terrified of the momentum he would rapidly
build if he was given the equal face time that establishment candidates have
enjoyed all along.

Viewers also noted how Romney, Giuliani and McCain were allowed to crack jokes
and enjoy pops and cheers from the audience, but when the audience responded
to Ron Paul they were politefully told to shut up.

"The first time it happened, MSNBC reminded the audience no "outbursts...or
applause." The second time Paul got the studio audience cheering - when he
said we never should have invaded Iraq - the audience was reminded to hold
back "pent up energy." Nothing was said when any of the other candidates told
jokes or inspired audience interaction," according to ConnieTalk.

Several viewers also reported that the pre-debate promo ads featured photos of
all the Republican candidates bar one - Congressman Ron Paul.

Bloggers are encouraging Paul supporters to sign a petition in protest of
MSNBC's skewed and unfair coverage, which ranks alongside Fox News' style of
bias and crony fixed debates.

In another bizarre moment, following a question from Tim Russert directed at
Mitt Romney in which he asked, "Will you do for social security what Ronald
Reagan did in 1983?" a hushed voice is heard to whisper "raise taxes" before
Romney responds, "I'm not gonna raise taxes".

Is Romney wired? Is he debating with the aide of the infamous Bush bulge? Who
was the voice in his ear helping him clarify the question? A fellow
establishment candidate or some kind of remote audio hook up? Whatever the
explanation, it was an odd occurance to say the least.

"Some have speculated that the whisper is a prompt for Russert to add on the
rest of the question, "raised taxes," to what Russert said about Reagan, but
listen to how incredibly fast the whisper comes after Russert finishes his
sentence. Seems mighty fast to have been someone trying to get Russert to
finish the question - how does the whisperer know that Russert is done? It
sounds much more like a prompt for Mitt," writes blogger E. Stewart Rhodes.

For what it was worth, here are Ron Paul's answers (within the paltry time
MSNBC graciously afforded him) at last night's debate

He shouldn't have been there.
He's not a serious candidate.
He has not attracted sufficient public support to this point.

He should have pulled out when Brownback, Hunter, and Tancredo, et al pulled
out.

His message is getting out if any one is intersted he is all over the
internet. His signs and bumber stickers are the only ones I see. The
fact is few voters want what he has to offer. Democrats love government
and Republicans see him as wrong on the war and I interpret what he says
as blame American First. I have been to too many countries and see the
good the US has done and have gotten thanks from people that the US has
liberated and protected.

LA Time /Bloomberg poll (asked of Republican primary voters)

McCain 22%
Huckabee 18%
Romney 17%
Giuliani 12%
Thompson 10%
Paul 6%
Other 2%
Unsure 13%

Not withstanding your insulting
lies, Paul is not a viable caniddate.

His presence only prevents viable
candidates from having time to
express their views.

He has no chance to get
the Republican nomination.

None.

The sponsers of the debates
control who gets on. It has
nothing to do with the constitution

He ought to stop wasting peoples

Not a thing when polls show
him at 6% of Republican voters.

Republicans don't want him.

If he wants to run he ought to
make a third party run...and
you should back your words
with cash for his campaign.

I think he's a lunatic.

The votes are just not there. In better times he might get more
support. He blames the US for terrorism and says that there are people
in the US that have the same mentality as the terrorists. They Aryan
nation doesn't have power, the Mullahs in Iran do. That is the
equivalent. I would be for out of the UN or NATO or looking at some of
the treaties we sign. But not actions we take against terrorists.
Democrats first priority is government power and controlling our lives.
He won't get support because if you hate the war you have almost the
wole Democratic party that will agree with you.

I met some one who was delivered by Dr. Paul. He would be a far
stronger candidate if there was not a war. Getting out of the UN or
NATO might be a good idea. If he is about freedom and liberty then he
and all liberals should oppose Islamic oppression. The terrorists are
diametrically opposed to all the things they stand for. Women's rights,
liberty and peace. Because this president is such an inept communicator
he has allowed people to believe that our government is more dangerous
that the terrorists.

I voted for Goldwater, and recognize the passion of Ron Paul
supporters. But it is all pissing in the wind short of a real economic
crisis that shuts down the corporate mass media- who've been telling
sheeple who to vote for.

It does not matter how rational Paul's policies are; the electorate is
in neurotic denial, and will not listen to reason. If enuf loose their
homes, go into bankruptcy, then that will get them off the couch, and
maybe then they'll pay attention. But otherwise, its back to more of
Clinton.

liberties for security but at least you didnt call me racist just because I

Islamic terrorisim is a threat but the founding fathers would never support
passing acts that take away the Consitutional freedoms they faught and died

Come on, don't you know that if the major media say you aren't a
serious candidate, then you aren't. They don't have to mention you if
they don't want to (being media they aren't restricted by the McCain
Censorship of Speech 'reform" law). Or they get to smash your
candidacy with negative comments (like say they did to Howard Dean who
it was decided could never be a serious candidate for president
because, well, he actually gave a political speech!). Let your TV
tell you who to choose from. You don't have to even think.

If you don't support the Constitution and support the way the 4th amendment
is being trampled on in the guise of protecting you lot from the big bad
terrorists then you are anti American.

Look all I want is a quote to prove I support what Hitler did to the Jews. I
did say in a previous post I understand why anti Semitism was so high in
Germany but that doesn't mean I approve.
So do you have any quotes to prove your statement?
Also Paul has beat Rudy and other top neocons 3 times and you dont say Rudy
is toast.
Finally you have the right to despise the Consitution all you want just but
no one not even the President has the right to disobey it.
So to sum up my email please provide a quote next time that proves I
supported Hitler.

Ron Paul has not brought up race in destructive way. Go do a search for
USSID 18. Understand what the government is doing. They are targeting
foreign calls and emails that go through US networks. The government
does not have the time and resources to go after people in the US who
are no threat. What about the losses of freedom to many Democratic
regulations and economic freedom of taxes. The government gets more
income from a gallon of gas than the oil companies, all the regulation
and taxes that making starting a business difficult. How about the
taking of property because some rat live on the land. Civil rights
legislation where companies hire illegals because checking into suspect
applicants can be sued for racism. You guys focus on one target but
never all the other government action that erodes our freedom daily.
Either the taxes or regulation that raises the cost of products.

Be thankful that FDR is not president. Critical posers would be in jail
and I can assure you that there would internment camps for Arabs. This
stuff is not unpresidented.

When have I supported either one of them? I am a Huckabee, Romney,
Obama guy. I will support Obama over McCain. Obama has a better
Record. McCain was right on one issue the war and he has a compelling
story, he would make a great Sec of Defense but I don't trust him with
the rest of government.

Oh I get it your a Democrat who thinks when Hillary is elected she will save
us from the tyranny of the Bush regime. Newsflash Bub Hillary voted for the
Iraq war. She has voted for every single thing Bush has asked congress to
vote for. She's one of them, so are most of the Democrats.
I'd still like to hear one example of where I supported the actions Hitler
took during World War 2 (Becoming dictator of Germany, suspending its
constitution, bombing its own building to blame it on a pansy, murdering
innocent Jews and other German citizens. But you cant give me a single quote
can you?

Yeah they are still many freedom's in America. Some people focus on the ones
being taken away so much it makes it look like America is a
dictatorship-which its not.

Hey I'm just glad LBJ isn't President otherwise there would already be a
staged gulf of Tonkin incident to be blamed on Iran like he did to balm on
Vietnam.
I'm no Democrat the Democrats have shown they can be even worse then
neocons.

No wonder, so you really support Huckabee-a hick preacher who wants to
change the Constitution? then there's Mitt Romney who clams he wants to
change Washington but he still spouts the same old neoconservative line. If
he was elected things would stay the same so what exactly does he want to
change about it?
Obama is just about the only Democrat I trust. Well him and Dennis Kucinich
and maybe Edwards. With the rest I wonder if they are just calming to be
against the war to get votes. The only reason I trust Ron Paul is because
his votingr ecord proves he is conservative and it proves he is being honest
about his stance. Thats what the world could use more of-honest politicans.

I voted for Ron Paul in 1988, and I'm surprised the GOP would let him in
under their banner, as they're not exactly near being mistaken for
libertarians, which I've been for a decade or three...

They didn't "let him in".
He's not a part of any of their leadership or management committees, and is
usually shut out of any policy decisions.

The only reason he's in office is because he won an election by default.
