Here is a challenge for God believers.

Why do you believe that YOUR God is the real one and all the others

are fakes?

What objective verifiable evidence do you have that proves or substantiates

that your God is a REAL God and not just a product of peoples imaginations

and false claims?

If there is a REAL God, why does he not directly substantiate his
authenticity

from his Heaven and smite all the false Gods?

Here are over one thousand God beliefs;

Most people believe the religion of their parents. It's the way they
were brought up. If a group of parents placed a block of wood on the
table and told their children that it was God and that because of it
they are enjoying the lifestyle that they do, the children would grow
up believing it and another religion would be born. Then we'd have even
another group: Atheism vs the Block of Wood.

At the same time, if these people were told that they were wrong and
the real God is this mysterious 3 in 1 Godhead who lives in the sky
and, if you don't do what he says, will send you to hell where you will
burn forever without end, they would probably laugh and say, "You've
got to be kidding! My block of wood makes a lot more sense than that.
And look, it's real too."

In the Babylon 5 episode "The Parliament of Dreams" the station was
hosting a festival celebrating religious diversity and each alien race
had to give some kind of demonstration of their planet's major
religion. When it was the humans' turn at the end of the episode, the
Captain brought the ambassadors into a room where he introduced a man
and announced him to be a Roman Catholic. He then introduced the next
man and told the ambassadors that he was an Atheist. The next man was a
Zen Buddhist. The camera pulls back and we see that the the line
continues for dozens and dozens more people, and continues pulling past
them as it fades to black.

By the way, the creator of Babylon 5, J.M. Straczynski, is an atheist.

I believe Nature is God because Nature exists.

Since Nature is everywhere (I include human beings as part of Nature)
that makes me a Pantheist.

There are different kinds of Pantheism. Eg.

The World Pantheist Movement

That's a lot of work. Let's just start with the one you think is true.
By the scripture I snipped, it seems to be the Abrahamic god, Yahweh.

Yahweh created the universe - he is all-powerful.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
- John 3:16

Yaweh is therefore both all-powerful and all-loving.

Would you agree there is evil in the world? Regardless of free will, an
all-powerful god could stop evil. And an all-loving god would want to.
Therefore, Yahweh, as defined in the bible (His word) does not exist.

Good enough for me.

Your logic is pathic. If you can't prove something does not exist it must
exist!?

I can't prove Santa Claus does not exist. Does that mean he is real???

Then, by the exact same logic, you have to prove you don't ower me the

Actually, I doubt aphrodite would be above such actions - at least
greek mythology doesn't claim their gods are all good though.

you are surely dumb.

You confess that you don't know which is the real God,given so many
false religion;and at the same time, you feel that the Christian belief
is wrong.

So you have eliminated one, then now go and eliminate another one till
you come to the one which you will find reasonable?

True...that is mostly who he is aiming at, the list is partly to attack
them for being far from unique, tbh, on a.a, we get so many trolls and
spammers coming over with opinions that are not wanted, sometimes
people like to take affirmative action in reply, and, as most of the

Which is utterly irrelevant. At the only level winch counts in the
real world they are _all_ merely beliefs that nobody would give a toss
about is they weren't imposed where they are neither wanted nor
needed.

Including yours, no matter how seriously you take it. It is only
different/special/etc in the minds of its believers who invalidly try
to apply their inside-the-religion criteria outside it.

I do sense some anger in his replies, in a knee-jerk sort of way.
Perhaps that is due to some insecurity on his part. I used to be the
same way, but I learned to walk away from the computer for a while if a
post enraged me, compose myself, and return to present a civil argument.
Christianity is indeed the religion we atheists attack most frequently,
mostly because of the proselytization factor, and the automatic
immorality they project on us simply because we don't believe in their
god(s).

> And yes, I have had this conversation
> before - along with the one where Bill's defenders (he tends to offer

Bill is one of the few atheists posting here these days that starts
threads with the intent to enrage the Christians posting to the Christian
groups. Then he crossposts them to alt.atheism in order to start flame
wars. He is, by definition, a troll in this respect, although his
intention seems to be to make them think about their beliefs, which in
many cases causes people to lose their faith. And he enlists some of us
to help his cause.

I've dubbed him an "Evangelical Atheist", which is far from the attitude
of your mainstream unbeliever. Most of us don't care what others
believe, we only take action when the proselytizers jam their beliefs
into our faces. Bill is one of the few who, like Dawkins or Sam Harris,
are trying to get these accidentally modern humans to face reality in the
light of recent scientific discovery - mostly the discoveries that
fundamentalist Christians refuse to "believe" since they contradict their
religious beliefs.

Why? Are you looking for something to worship?
If you are then I would steer well away from real gods - they tend to
be real sons-of-bitches* - the imaginary ones can be whateber you need
them to be and they dont ever let you down if you dont expect too much
from them.

Cheers, Mark.

to know".

Thats an extremely bad reason to believe nature is God.
In my humble opinion of course.

Dust motes manage the trivial feat of existence - that dosent seem a
very good reason to belive in the divinity of dust motes.

I think deification of anything is universally a bad idea - but if you
insist in believing in a god I would say the very best are the ones
that DO NOT actually exist.
They can't actually let you down - you can merely have over ambitious
expectations of them.

Cheers, Mark.

Still weaving and dodging trying to avoid the issue. What is you objective
verifiable
evidence that your god or any other god actually exists. Your babble is not
evidence.

That's an interesting point. Another existential observation is "Will

designs where neither exist.

I don't give a shit which one it is.

Are you really so stupid you imagine that whichever deity it is, has
any relevence to anybody apart from its believers?

No, liar, I don't care.

No, liar - with equal irrelkevance, because they're all merely
somebidy else's irrelebvant belief.

Then you were deliberately misunderstanding Bill.

When you have a shred of honesty, arrogant pillock. But I won't hold

Bill has a very limited conception of Divinity - he is absolutely
obsessed with the particular God that he is an atheist towards.
In other words you have hime pegged.

Very well said.
I am increasingly reluctant about calling myself "atheist" these days
because of people like Bill and others like him that I do not want to
associate myself with.
I now prefer the term godless.

I dont really care about the *existence* of gods - one way or another.
