The reason I was so sympathetic to Southerners fighting to keep their
statues despite part of my family fighting for the Union, was because I
knew it was about more than slavery. It was about destroying symbols of
White ancestry and heritage in America. We were right, of course, but now
as a descendant of California pioneers I am watching my own ancestors
demonized and the symbols of my heritage destroyed.
This is a direct result of legal post 1965 scab labor that my own parents
and grandparents were foolish enough to except. Since our heritage does not
represent the tens of millions of non-whites who have moved to California
over the last 50 years and who feel uncomfortable an jealous even that they
are not represented in California’s glorious history. They know that their
people are not of the same quality of stock as my ancestors who traveled
across an entire continent on foot and in wagon, fighting for daily
survival only to be forced to fight off an entire Spanish army immediately
upon arrival.
One day, my descendants will return to reconquer their birthright, and when
that day comes, those fools who thought they could take what was not
rightfully theirs will experience a shock of terror beyond their wildest
dreams as their squatter descendants are driven out of that Golden State of
mine.
