Hi.

I've been working on a bit of micronational stuff recently (trying to get
Geocities to admit my existence was a problem...), and I only just thought
of hitting Usenet. Anyhow, I'm sorry to trouble you busy people, but I have
a few questions:

1/ Is there a FAQ or FPT document for this newsgroup?
2/ If so, where can I get it?
3/ Ditto a complete list of currently existing Micronations, statements of
policy, &c.

Dear Shim:

In answer to #3, there is such a list maintained by the Principality of
Rittergeist: http://members.tripod.com/rittergeist. In the micronations
section of our site, you'll also find links to micronational organizations,
micropatrological sites, etc. I'm afraid I don't believe there's a FAQ for
this group, although "The Micronations Page" at
http://www.execpc.com/~talossa/patsilor.html has a good introduction to
micronations, but the links are quite dated.

Yours,

Joseph, Prince von Rittergeist

Thanks.

Hello,

>The Declaration of Independence & Territorial Claims of Arronia will be

Wow there! There is something I have learned in my experiance in
micronations. Over 50 or 60 people have created micronations and the number
is rising. Did you know that a lot of people get bored in micronations
because THEY'RE the only citizens? At the most, a usuall micronation might
have from 1-15 citizens. That's all! You'll be lucky if Arronia gets five.

How do you solve this problem? It is simple! Just join an established
micronations, one that is fairly old and HAS other citizens. I know what
you're thinking, "but I want to rule or shape the nation". As a citizen of
an established micronation, you will shape and rule in your own part. You
could end up being Prime Minister of some countries.

One good country is the Kingdom of Talossa www.execpc.com/~talossa/ (I
personally recommend Talossa, it's GREAT!!!). Another is the New Worcester
Kingdom http://members.tripod.com/~Klausjames/index.html , not quite as good
as Talossa and not that active. Or, another suggestion is to be a "free"
micronationalist and just help and serve the micronational community from no
single point.

I tried to e-mail you, but it didn't work. What's your e-mail address?

Ah... there's about ten of us working on it :)

We shall, however, consider other options...

Hello,

Fascinating. Why not join Talossa (you'd havda' give up Arronia) or the New
Worcester Kingdom (which allows dual citizenship)?

>We shall, however, consider other options...

What kind of options? You could however, once Arronia is formed, ask another
micronation to territorialize it. Meaning, if you could work out some deal
with Talossa, the Holy Empire of Reunion or the New Worcester Kingdom
(http://members.tripod.com/~Klausjames/index.html), you could become the
Territory of Arronia of the Kingdom of Talossa, Reunion or the New Worcester
Kingdom or something of the sort.

Right. However, dual citizenship is something I'm a little wary of (and I
just looked at the Talossan citizenship reqs... phew!)

So...

So we'd be a (semi-autonomous?) region of a larger country? In other words -
do a Texas:
"Hey, we're independent!"
[Five minutes later]
"Ah, well, you want to have us, don't you? Please?"

So, the situation for this is that we would:

a) Create the state as per the standard procedure
b) Keep sole soverignity for a period to 'break it in', as it were.
c) Find a larger micronation (sounds odd, that...) and either:
1) apply to join as a separate province of that nation (the equivalent of
an US state? I'm not to clear on the exact political devolution over there),
with a level of autonomy BUT still a part of that larger nation. Citizens of
Arronia would therefore become citizens of [wherever], and whilst we would
no longer be a soverign power, we would keep legislative power over the
territory - subservient to the overall government - and the national symbols
(flag, anthem, &c.).
2) cede our territory to them in return for citizenship for our current
population. This would cause Arronian citizens to be [wherever-ian]
citizens, and the territory would be sumbsumes into the larger political
mass, with Arronia keeping no control - virtually ceasing to exist, except
as a political party.

I think #1 is without a doubt better from the POV of the small country,
however it would require a micronation which is based on the
regionally-devolved-power system.

#2 is, it seems, rather imperialistic... but it might be the only option.

-Shim, considering this.

Is it just me or does it seem like there are micronations that consistantly try
and distroy the micronational soverignty of other states in an expansionist
move to claim as much "territory" as possible?

Seems awfully imperialistic to me..... I think I'd rather belong to a
benevolent Monarchy or inefficient democracy rather than be consumed by the
"manifest destiny" type Empires listed in earlier posts.

Sorta like the macronations, then? (Yes, I'm British - for now. Yes, I'm an
unashamed colonialist...)

The Interim Government is considering various options. That is all we will
say on the matter.
