One of the reasons I bought a copy of "How To Start Your Own Country by
Edwin Strauss was, sometime ago, I read in the L.A. Times about a group
in No. Calif that seceded from the US, quietly and mostly w/o comment,
on an island off the coast of California. They still worked in the US,
but sent a notice of secession to the macronation's government. I
remember seeing the article in the "Lifestyle" section of the Times, and
it started me to wondering. The date was around 1985 or so (1986? '87?)

Does anyone know whatever happened to that grtoup? I know I'm not
hallucinating, because someone else (an old acquaintence of mine)
mentioned it to me also (sorry, I don't remember the name of it, but the
picture is pretty clear).

Even a "sorry, the movement died out" would be nice, since at least I'd
know what happened.

Thanks ----

'Fraid not; they're in Florida. This was in Northern California, according
to the LA Times.
