FROM AMERICAN THINKER

HEAD: Souring on Hope and Change

As if we were speaking another language, the Democrats are ignoring all the
signs that they are overstepping in expanding the federal government and
spending like there's no tomorrow:

The first signs of a revolt are apparent in the polls.

"President Barack Obama's approval rating in the Buckeye State - one of the
key bellwethers for national politics - dropped to 49 percent, the lowest of
any swing state, according to a poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac
University in Hamden, Conn. Obama, who lost Ohio's Democratic primary to
Hillary Rodham Clinton but topped Republican John McCain in November's
general election, earned a 62 percent approval rating in the university's
May survey."

More, from the Washington Examiner:

"Last month's Washington Post/ABC poll reported that Americans favor smaller
government with fewer services to larger government with more services by a
54 to 41 percent margin -- a slight uptick since 2004. The percentage of
Independents favoring small government rose to 61 percent from 52 percent in
2008. The June NBC/Wall Street Journal poll reported that, even amid
recession, 58 percent worry more about keeping the budget deficit down
versus 35 percent worried more about boosting the economy. A similar
question in the June CBS/New York Times poll showed a 52 to 41 percent
split.

"Other polls show a resistance to specific Democratic proposals. Pollster
Whit Ayres reports that 58 percent of voters agree that reforming health
care, while important, should be done without raising taxes or increasing
the deficit. Pollster Scott Rasmussen reports that 56 percent of Americans
are unwilling to pay more in taxes or utility rates to generate cleaner
energy and fight global warming.

It's interesting that on these issues and many others independents are
responding more like Republicans than Democrats. That's the opposite of what
we saw up through 2008, when independents were almost as critical of the
Bush administration and Republican policies as Democrats."

This apparent recoil against big government policies has not gone unnoticed
by Americans. Gallup reported earlier this week that 39 percent of Americans
say their views on political issues have grown more conservative, while only
18 say they have grown more liberal. Moderates agreed by a 33 to 18 percent
margin.

Rasmussen also reflects the public disillusionment.

In the past, it seems Obama was able to get some bounce with travels
overseas and the attendant shots of waving crowds and fancy
diplo-stepping in gilded foreign palaces, but even that can backfire, as the
Russians seemingly deliberately humiliated him.

Away with all this negativity I would like to comment on one area where
Obama has been a resounding overpowering success.
He has succeeded in making the USA the laughing stock of the world with his
naive inept grasp of Foreign affairs and his and the Democrats sublime
stupidity in voting for Cap and Trade legislation based on Green NAZI lies
which will cripple America economically that is if his quadrupling of the
National debt does not do it first,

Bye Bye USA it was nice knowing you. Every one I speak to has nothing but
pity for America and amusement that you dug your own grave.

I think Obama must be disappointing people across the spectrum. Of course,
those of us who could see him for what he is, and didn't vote for him, are
not going to approve of him.

For the Obama voters who believed his moderate rhetoric in campaign speeches
and thought he would govern from the middle, some of them must be realizing
that he is governing as a leftist. Is there anyone who thinks that the Obama
administration is indeed postpartisan? Has everyone come together for the
greater good as Obama promised, or are we more divided than ever?

With respect to the hand out crowd that naturally supported Obama, has he
paid their mortgages and car payments this month? Perhaps a few have
benefitted from Tarp, porkulus and other spending, but I suspect many more
are starting to ask "hey, where's mine?".

As for the far left, they shouldn't be happy. Gays haven't been allowed to
marry or enter the military. Gitmo isn't closed, and Obama has been in
office for 6 months. We still have troops in Iraq, and Obama seems awfully
interested in expanding military operations in Afghanistan. Healthcare isn't
free yet, and carbon is still abundant on Earth.

I can see why Obama's numbers are dropping. I can't imagine them going up
substantially anytime soon. If he reverses course, and the economy recovers
by early 2010, his numbers will improve. However, with cap and tax,
government run healthcare, and the rest of his massive spending, Obama seems
to be doing everything he can to kill our economy.

Every time I see Obama's numbers drop, I smile and think there is hope.

I disagree with the above statement. The independents are sounding more like
CONSERVATIVES not REPUBLICANS. The Republican mouthpieces and
congressmen(women) are of almost the same ilk as the Democrats and do not
stand up for the conservative principles we, and more and more independents
stand for. They were just as eager when they were in control to cement their
place at the trough of the taxpayer as the Democrats and should hang their
head in shame. Instead they continue to espouse "bipartisanship" and
capitulate to the wants of the controlling democrats just as they did when
they were in control.

Never, ever believe what these liberals say.... watch what they do! They
have never understood what made this country the envy of the world because
they are a bunch of elitist, over-educated, government workers who have no
idea what it means to run a business, or hold a job where you have to
produce. The American people as a whole are not stupid, and I pray will wake
up before we are a bankrupt country. Of course we basically are now!
