That's right! If your income was over $131,000 you are in that top
20%.
You are part of that privileged group that paid 2/3rds of all federal
taxes.
Because average federal tax rates rise with income, the share of
federal taxes paid by higher-income households exceeded their share of
before-tax income, and the opposite was true for lower-income
households.
