I prefer they stay!
They represent the thoroughly brainwashed. It is important that the
mentality and intent of this class of religious fanatic remain in the
open for all to evaluate. They daily reveal the sanctity of bullshit
to anyone capable of thinking for themselves.
Show us all a little of this here thinkin, and we can all
be entertained.
Mani! What are YOU doing here? Did the Fine Arts NG throw you out AGAIN?
You've just GOT to stop being so rude to those young artists, even if you
truly believe you're the only one with real talent. Remember, you were young
once, a long time ago.
Anyway, have a happy 76th birthday, old man!

People who hide and abet crime of this sort belong in jail. No
excuses!
If you know of such people and have concrete evidence you can report them
and they will go to jail as aiding and abetting is a crime.
The problem is that anti catholics make all kinds of accusations without
evidence.
Some have been talking to victims that had been abused a 1000 years ago.
The Church is still lying. The Catholic bishop of Denmark has stated
just a few days ago that he does not feel obliged to report to the police
cases of sexual abuse by priests, that he will first consult his advisers.
I was not surprised to hear it, but I was amazed to hear the idiot say it
in public. The Church has not learned anything at all. It is still just as
stupid and just as arrogant.
Have you been paying no attention for the past 20 years?
> Some have been talking to victims that had been abused a 1000 years ago.
A miracle!
They're in such serious denial about it they imagine people react
negatively because they're anti-Catholic.
Of course they are anti catholic. Have you ever heard them complain about
the paedophiles in any other profession? Why do they go on about the
smallest group of all paedophiles?
You're in denial about it as well, otherwise why would you need to lie
like this?

• Indeed and some bishops as well as some archbishops were having sexual
relations with minors.

R.L. Measures. 805-386-3734, www.somis.org
• to a good many RCs, Catholic-bashing is a faith builder
** 4309 may be a small number of paedophiles but they must have done a
substantial amout of harm since the RCC agreed to pay $2,100,000,000 to
settle with their victims.
• Mmmmmm, He's in need of some time off in RC Purgatory?
Nobody would bash them if they show showed basic human decency,
honesty or ethics.
Instead of a unique combination of arrogance, power, corruption and
psychopathy.
And this is at so many levels from the anti-condom campaigns in
countries ravaged by AIDS and the pedophile priest cover up.
To interference in the European and American democratic process by
threatening representatives who happen to be Catholic if they don't
vote the way the Vatican says to impose the Vatican line on us even
though they represent everybody not just Catholics.
And their use of Poland, the newest members of the EU to try and
change the rules of a secular organisation of nations who joined
together for economic reasons, to "acknowledge their Christian
heritage" in their new Constitution.
The Vatican being a foreign country isn't even part of their
constituency let alone the electorate they're supposed to represent.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This corrupt
organisation acts as if it has absolute power and many people let it
get away this.
So both of you have again facts without proof.
It never stops.
Oh yes, a lot more catholic bashing.
"Bashing is a harsh, gratuitous, prejudicial attack on a person, group
or subject."
Nothing prejudicial about it. Mr Lee simply summed up known facts.
So did I. The fact ids he is bashing Catholics.
We and they have patrick, your catholic programming forces you to deny
it though.
Apparently, you've kept your head buried in the sand for the last 15 -
20 years.
Point to any other profession that has an institutionalized cover-up
of these crimes.
Keep your head firmly buried in the sand. Meanwhile the abuse and
cover-ups continue.
Yes, they continue. Mostly by Fathers, uncles, brothers, teachers,
policemen, judges, doctors etc. etc. They do continue because you only
concentrate on one small section of offenders.
What you call bashing we call legitimate criticism.
The fact is that he gave legitimate criticism.
It is bashing if it is selective and one sided.
When did you accuse your president for interference in the affairs of other
countries?
So far, the Pope has not started a war and killed thousands of civilians.
Yes. In fact they are put in jail. But not the priests, nuns, bishops and
cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church. Their authorities whisk them away
and out of the hands of civil authorities before trial and punishment can be
met.

That is part of a bad decision and their first solution.
They (as MOST people) thought that if they ignored the
problem, maybe it would go away. Bad decision.

Actually, it is much more than this.
It depends on how the priest is accused.
Any alleged child abuser will be removed from the ministry
immediately. At one time, he would be counselled, given
therapy, and then re-evaluated by "experts."
That no longer happenes.
Now, there is an investigation, the victim and parents
are encouraged to go to the civil authorities, the priest is
sent to a holding area, and is not allowed to be near children until
the case has been closed. He may be arrested by civil
authorites, or he might be defrocked by the pope. or both.
Since MOST alleged child abusers are dead or removed from the
ministry (in America), we don't have many cases to reference.
>>Most Catholics are watching, praying and will remain vigilant.
>>The outsiders are still trying to raise mobs and start bonfires.
> People who hide and abet crime of this sort belong in jail. No

Name some --- you know within THIS millennium.......
There is a problem there. See, after an infallible pope, or two, or three
or ten took great pains to describe purgatory and a complete RCC doctrine
surrounding it, another recent infallible pope said it no longer exists.
Just like the infallible popes said it is a mortal sin to eat meat on
Friday, another infallible pope coerced god into changing his mind.
This god character is a wuss. Not only does the RCC force him to change his
mind on doctrine of importance, the Mormon Church made him change his mind
about needing at least seven wives to get to the highest Celestial Heaven,
and into making him accept blacks into the LDS membership fold (just because
SCOTUS was going to take away their tax free status as a church).

Have you?
A Report on the Crisis (as of 5 years ago) in the Catholic Church in the
United States has generated a fog of figures, which cannot obscure the
extent of this massive failure of institutional religion. It is indeed a
crisis. Though this is a step forward, it is not the solution by any means,
but a half-hearted admission that there is a problem.
Here are a few of the highlights.
a.. US clerics accused of abuse from 1950-2002: 4,392.
About 4% of the 109,694 serving during those 52 years.
b.. Individuals making accusations: 10,667.
c.. Victims' ages: 5.8% under 7; 16% ages 8-10; 50.9% ages 11-14; 27.3%
ages 15-17.
d.. Victims' gender: 81% male, 19% female
e.. Duration of abuse: Among victims, 38.4% said all incidents occurred
within one year; 21.8% said one to two years; 28%, two to four years; 11.8%
longer.
f.. Victims per priest: 55.7% with one victim; 26.9% with two or three;
13.9% with four to nine; 3.5% with 10 or more (these 149 priests caused 27%
of allegations).
g.. Abuse locations: 40.9% at priest's residence; 16.3% in church; 42.8%
elsewhere.
It should be noted that 30% of all accusations were not investigated as they
were deemed unsubstantiated or because the accused priest is dead.
Additional Information from other sources
· The Wisconsin Psychological Association's survey found offenders
distributed among the following professions: Psychiatrists 34%,
Psychologists 19%, Social Workers 13%, Clergy 11%, Physicians 6%, Marriage
Counselors 4%, and Others 14%.
· The Center for Domestic Violence found that 12.6% of clergy said
they had sex with church members. 47% of clergy women were harassed by
clergy colleagues.
· The Presbyterian Church stated that 10-23% of clergy have
"inappropriate sexual behavior or contact" with clergy and employees.
Most abusers are members of the victim's family, either a caretaker or
parent or a close relative. This includes physical, emotional, and sexual
abuse and child neglect. 90% of confirmed physical abuse and neglect cases
involve caretakers of children. Contrary to common belief, males and
females perpetrate abuse against their own children at surprisingly similar
rates. "Among all abused children, those abused by their birth parents were
about equally likely to have been abused by mothers as by fathers (50% and
58%, respectively), but those abused by other parents, parent-substitutes,
or other, nonparental perpetrators were much more likely to be abused by
males (80 to 90% by males versus 14 to 15% by females). Children who had
been physically abused by their birth parents were more likely to have
suffered at the hands of their mothers than their fathers (60% versus 48%),
while those who had been physically abused by other parents or parent-
substitutes were much more likely to have been abused by their fathers or
father-substitutes (90% by their fathers versus 19% by their mothers)." On
the whole, children are somewhat more likely to be maltreated by female
perpetrators than by males: "65 percent of the maltreated children had been
maltreated by a female, whereas 54 percent had been maltreated by a male."
This last statistic is unfair because it includes child neglect, in which
mothers are named at rates that are absurd given that women accused of child
neglect are almost always single mothers. The fathers who abandon their
children are almost never convicted of child neglect. Still, the statistic
shows the current state of affairs.
Though there is no "cause" of abuse and no specific profile of abusers, many
factors contribute and make abuse more likely to occur. Pressures on the
family, alcohol and drug abuse, and social isolation can all lead to
parental stress and increase the chances that a parent will strike out at
their child. If an adult expects too much of a child or if a child has
learning or behavior problems, or mental illness, or is the result of an
unplanned pregnancy, the child is much more likely to be abused or
neglected. If the adult was abused as a child or has psychological or
medical problems, he or she is much more likely to abuse or neglect.

Thank you for admitting that they at least have facts, as opposed to your
mere assertions. Maybe there is hope for you yet.

Read that again. It has nothing to do with child abuse. It merely states
that the Presbyterian Church believes about 25 percent of its clergy are
having affairs. That is what they admit to. I would not be surprised that
the actual number exceeds 60% as it does with the general religious
population.
Unfortunately most of your statistics are undocumented and just circulate

No problem at all.
Whatever you bind --or loosen --on earth will be bound --or loosend--in
heaven
The reason something is infallible is not because it is right for al times,
it is because God accepts it as binding
until another Pope brings in a different law.
In the O.T. we read on divorce: If you hate her, put her away said the Lord.
In the new testament we read: Moses allowed you to divorce your wife.
When Moses the leader made a concession to prevent greater evil, it was as
if God had made the concession Himself.
Come up with your own statistics then.
Show us how you defend them pedophiles.
So there are no court orders awarding compensation?

Ah, you are missing the obvious point here.
What Patdick is saying is SEE, this religion is just as bad as ours is,
but that just goes on to show that RELIGION itself is a root cause of
this evil they so denounce.
Besides, what kind of argument is Patdick trying here?
No, he is talking about real criminal activity among Catholic clergy and the
leadership's attempt to cover it up. You are evading the real issue here.
Where I live, and I am sure in other countries, Catholics are among those
who are criticizing the Church's behavior, and let us not forget that the
overwhelming percentage of the victims were Catholics.
Oh well then! I wonder why anyone thinks there is a problem. Certainly
thousands
of children have been abused by priests and nuns, and the hierarchy
(including the Pope)
have tried to hide this abuse; but, as you point out, the Pope has not
started a war.
Guess what.... I pulled the following from your quote:
They are the same statistics as those I cited:
NCR [National Catholic Reporter], 1/15/99
a.. The Presbyterian Church stated that 10-23% of clergy have "inappropriate
sexual behavior or contact" with clergy and employees.
a.. The United Methodist research (1990) showed 38.6% of Ministers had
sexual contact with church members and that 77% of church workers
experienced some type of sexual harassment.
a.. The United Church of Christ found that 48% of the women in the work
place have been sexually harassed by male clergy.
a.. The Southern Baptists claim 14.1% of their clergy have sexually abused
members.
Fact: Child-abuse by clergy is also rampant amongst all Christian
denominations.
Are you seriously claiming that limbo used to exist but now it doesn't? At
first
there was no limbo, then, in the late Middle Ages, limbo came into
existence; and
now it has again disappeared. That would also mean that basptism used to be
absolutely necessary to save a person from eternal damnation, but later the
rules
were changed and all those souls that were damned eternally went to limbo.
Now
there is no limbo again, so now all the souls, baptized or not, have a shot
at heaven.
Just think the Pope could change the rules and have all the souls now in
hell transferred
to heaven - or he could do the reverse. It just takes one's breath away,
and I bet God
just sits in suspense wondering what the Vatican will come up with next.

You were expelled from catholic high school because of arson.
You certainly can't speak for or interpret scripture better than
experts in the field. You make me sick with your pretend knowledge

Sour grapes.
Ignorance about Catholic teaching and about the logical consequences of
omnipotence noted. It is funny to see a person who does not understand the
teachings of his own Church defend it.

Most Catholics were shocked when the crisis first came about.
They were disturbed, wary, and wanted explanations.
There were no good excuses. However, after studying the
problem, most Catholics have just come to realize that the
priests that they held so high on pedestals were merely humans.
And, the bishops were dumbstruck on how to handle the problem.
Most Catholics have now accepted the fact that mistakes were
made, poor decisions, and some hushing up to protect the
victims and accused. The bishops looked for quiet solutions,
and they found out that there aren't any.
Protocols have changed, and those same decisions will
never be made again.
Most Catholics are watching, praying and will remain vigilant.
The outsiders are still trying to raise mobs and start bonfires.
As for your statement that most victims were Catholics, HUH?
What did you expect? Catholic priests to wander the streets looking
for non-Catholics to abuse? Gimme a break.
I think you need a history lesson or two. There were times in
history where the pope led his army against other nations. Or gave a
free hand to his Crusaders to kill and pillage and be guaranteed a
seat in the kingdom of heaven. Then there were the lies of Jews being
the "Christ Killers" that ultimately led to the killing of 6 million
of them. That does not include the Jews killed during the time of the
black death. I think popes directly or indirectly killed a FEW
people.
You are making some sense, Patrick - you get one atta-boy!
Thinking American Catholics - Oxymoron?
I second that.

Of course it did. That is why I used it. Noteworthy is that none of what
you quoted here has anything to do with child abuse but rather adults having
sex, forced or otherwise with other adults. The second time around and you
still missed it even though it was pointed out to you. But you missed the
even bigger points that priests are raping nuns.
so much for the tunnel vision of the True Believer.

What Aramaic? You are right that even to attempt to answer the questions
one would have to know those languages. But if you actually could read
those languages you would know that translating the verses is the easy part.
> Shaddup yer face.
> You are not an expert in this.
How would you know? You don't even rise to the level of a novice.
> You were expelled from catholic high school because of arson.
Really? Which one? In which court was the case prosecuted? Why do you
make up such lies?
> You certainly can't speak for or interpret scripture better than
> experts in the field. You make me sick with your pretend knowledge
> of various languages. You are a LIAR.
Pattiecakes, Pattiecakes, Pattiecakes. I've already demonstrated far more
expertise in those languages that you have ever shown.
> Sour grapes.

How often does the Pope declare something to be infallible?
How silly of you. You call me ignorant of the bible, and then call me dumb,
yet it seem that it is you who cannot answer the biblical questions.
Typical response of Fundies who can't read biblical texts but rather have
explanations spoon fed to them.
I devised the questions, so why in your infinite expertise in scripture
can't you answer them. Oh, wait, I know the answer. You feign your
knowledge. You can spout what you memorized but that is far as it goes.
Why do you think the bible has been translated by experts into every
language?
The reason for that is so that idiots like you who pretend to have knowledge
can't mislead anyone.
Your lack of knowledge has been noted.

Of course limbo exists. It's a sort of dance where you have to get under a

The godless one
a.a.# 2279
All gods are bespoke. They're all made to
perfectly fit the prejudices of their believer
4309 in the US alone. How many more throughout the world? In how many more
countries? How many more are yet to be uncovered? The list just keeps
getting longer and longer. And this from the organisation that claims to
have the inside track on morality and wants all people to follow its
example. Don't do as we do, do as we say!
The reason is so that idiots like you can understand what the translators
WANT you to believe.
Your lack of thinking has been noted.

You really ought to stop pitching accusations at others that are oft
pitched at you, tardlet. It makes you look like a castrated bullock being
led around the parade ground by the ring in its nose.

I have defined no god. And when I do need to define some god for the
purposes of discussing its nature with atheists I always define the
supposed some god in the very same concrete and arbitrary terms, without
variation:
God = Metaphysical X
Watching you idiot atheists witlessly pinning your own lunatic
assumptions and irrational perceptions onto it then attempting to argue
against your very own deranged Frankenstein-like creation with utterly
b0rked illogic is a never-ending source of great hilarity.
I am glad to see that you agree.
How do you know that you are not being mislead? All we know for sure is
that
you are ignorant and, based on your above response, rather proud of it.
In which it says nothing that justifies your charge of ignorance. Your
post, on the other
hand, reveals that you do not understand the Church's teaching concerning
infallibility or
the logical consequences of omnipotence.
What possible difference does that make? Your explanation is still
ludicrous.
To answer your question however, since the Church declared (infallibly one
assumes)
that the Pope or a Church council with the Pope's approval was infallible in
the
middle of the 19'th century, such declarations have been made a handfull of
times - about
four times if memory seves. The Church however has always claimed
infallibility, which
has created rather amusing problems. You don't (in your case that is
literally true) want
to look too closely at the history of "infallible teachings".
Ah fads of days gone by!
In the whole history of the church, popes have only twicce declared a
doctrine to be infallible truth.
You are a pompous idiot.
The N.T. is 2000 years old and has been translated many thousands of times
bu a wide range of different people. Of course, in America they have about
35.000 different Jonny came lately protestant sects all having their own
interpretations.
All that you all can do is to translate the original Catholic Bibles. You
don't have any original manuscripts so all your grandstanding is useless.
Can you show any other organization that has protected and enabled
child molestors for decades, probably longer?
Criminal activity.
• The last one was in 1950. The laugher is that it's called the
"Assumption". = No fooling!

R.L. Measures. 805-386-3734, www.somis.org
** My guess would be about the same as the rate here in the States --
about 8% of priests.
>In how many more
> countries? How many more are yet to be uncovered?
** damned if I know!
>The list just keeps
> getting longer and longer. And this from the organisation that claims to
> have the inside track on morality and wants all people to follow its

** I find it amazing that there was one Catholic who saw this trainwreck
coming down the tracks 860 years ago.
"The devil never harmed the church so much as when the church herself
adopted the vow of celibacy."
- - Petrus Comestor (DOB ?, died c. Â AD1178 in Paris)
The laugher is that the vow of celibacy was supposed to save money by
denying the children of priests their rightful inheritance -- but in the
end it cost the RCC billions of dollars and unfathomable damage to its
reputation by revealing what c, 8% of RC priests had been doing behind
closed doors with their altar boys.
cheers
• Well, he's semi-funny Xan.
Well then answer those three little questions.
Oh, by the way, those experts are experts of hiding truth by translating
something in such a way that you in ignorance won't ever know it.

Later,
Darrell
If I ask you questions in Warrungo,, Waray, Ilocano or Ilongo, chances are
that you can't answer. It doesn't mean anything. Don't try to pretend to be
smart just because you have the (Possibly wrong) interpretation of some
verses.
It would if we were discussing the history or literature of the places that
use those languages. That whole concept seems to go over your head.
The second point you missed was that nobody was asking you to do any
translation. All you had to do is read those original biblical languages
and then answer the three biblical questions I asked. You, in effect, are
the translator.
They third and most important point you missed was that you were calling
someone stupid who had more knowledge than you. As I wrote, Fundies can
only memorize and parrot.
--
Later,
Darrell
I leave the translations to linguistic experts, not to some protestant
sects.
You just pointed out your problem. How odd that you think that the fact
the Bible has been translated many times somehow makes it more likely that
not only what you read has been translated correctly but that one particular
interpretation is correct.
Now that is utter nonsense.
No it isn't exept that the Gospels and epistles are also infallible.
Criminal activity.
+PB - Where is the indictment? Why weren't they prosecuted?
